Jameson. I don’t care for Jack Daniels it tastes too dry and just doesn’t have the sweetness of an Irish whiskey.

Hello all!
Ah Whisk(e)y... For me it's Rye first and foremost followed almost neck and neck is that magical stuff called Laphroig! When it comes to Irish Old Bushmills 10 yo single malt is good, I don't particularly like Tullamore D.E.W. but that's because I don't care for the Sherry notes. When it comes to Bourbon I love a very inexpensive sip called Evan Williams 1783 the Rye I like as a go-to is George Dickel's but I also recommend Pikeville Pure Rye (a little expensive) and Jim Beam's Rye is a good utility rye. If you never tried a bonded Bourbon try Colonel E. H. Taylor small batch @ around $40 you can't go wrong 👍

I like Evan Williams myself! Clearly I'm not alone since they make at least a few gallons of it.

As to Tennessee Whisk(e)y I'll take George Dickel over Jack Daniels every time, mostly because they have tighter control over the product because the demand is not as high and therefore batches are smaller. I feel that Jack is overrated and overpriced across the board. I waited a long time to try their Rye and found it to be too astringent and flat, with no pizzazz! I know that Dickel's Rye is mad at MPG in Indiana but the Lincoln County process adds it's zing and the Tennessee aging tops it off. When you compare good single malts from Scotland or Good mid-level blends like The Smoky Grousse or Chivas Regal you get a much nicer sip for the $ than anything Jack makes. Mostly (IMHO) your paying for Jack's reputation and hype. Their Whisk(e)y isn't bad but it isn't fantastic either. It's just more prominent. Differentiating Tennessee from Bourbon is somewhat like splitting hairs anyway, and since that's the case for my tastes I'll stick with Evan Williams 1783 80 barrel small batch Bourbon for $11.99 for 750ml compared to Jack Daniels Old No. 7 for $24.99 for 750ml any day of the week.
