Hi, The MOST retarded thing I hear when you talk to people about losing hair. I mentioned this in another post yesterday but now my bi polar must have kicked in and Im uber depressed and pissed about it. My old boss (woman who hired me) who was transferred to another dept stops in once in a blue moon to chit chat. It was made evident that one of the reasons she picked me for the job was because I was a "cutie". Well in just a few years my hair has become awful. I tried shaving it off and going short but never receive ONE compliment ever! The other day she was down here and we started talking about greying hair. My current boss, also a woman walked over because she dyes her hair. I made a mention that I Would just shave it off again. My old boss already told me since I started growing it out again, never shave again it doesnt look good on me. Well my new boss almost snapped her neck twisting around to tell me "NO, never shave your head again". So really in the end what the FAWK option is there aside a hair transplant and crossed fingers? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet. References: www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/threads/oh-just-shave-your-head-its-cool-go-to-hell.71782/Animated Explainer

A toupee. Have you tried Rogaine?
But screw 'em, I'd shave it. If they make any comment it's a "Me Too!" moment and you own them. Sexual harassment is a 2 edged sword and it slices both ways. Hired because you're a cutie?? That's also a "Me Too!" moment. Women can't violate the laws that men are supposed to obey.
I have a full and thick head of hair that is salt and pepper (more and more salt every year), but when I decided to buzz cut it decades ago I didn't ask anyones permission or ask for any feedback. I did it for me and if they didn't like it, too bad. I shave my head every once in awhile and I don't ask permission or ask for feedback for that either. It's my head. BTW, if you ask for feedback it's not a Me Too moment if they're honest. At least that's the way I see it, but I'm not a lawyer and have never even played one on TV.

Just shave it. Black men typically “look better” with their heads shaved because they do it more often and thus people see it as normal. So be the trend setter.

My hair has been thinning since I was 26ish. I keep it buzzed short. Not to worried about what anyone thinks.

A buzz cut is sooooo easy to care for and to produce on your own. That's exactly why I did it. That, and I'm also cheap and don't care what others think. I was paying my barber to buzz cut me. Over 20 years ago (25?) I bought an inexpensive hair clipper for $22 that I'm still using today. That's less than $1/year for a haircut every 2 weeks. Let's see, easy to care for and super inexpensive... it's no contest. The buzz cut wins hands down. But if you want to shave your head go for it. I do every once in awhile. I just don't care for the maintenance of shaving it every few days, but I like the feel. The Clog Pruf works great for head shaving. I think they either had that in mind for it, or shaving just once a week.

Shaving my head isn't really an option...For one, the shape of my skull is a little like a fist with eyes, lol! And I had a couple cancerous moles removed, that left some pretty colorful ugly scars...My hair covers them up, but my barber was laughing one day...Now keep in mind, this cat is my friend, right....He said, "those scars under your hair looks like your Doc used a tommahawk, ha,ha you better hope you never lose your hair....women will be covering their childrens faces so they won't get nightmares, ha,ha" Now this guy is my friend....I wanted to kick his @$$...Whew! It was funny though...lol!

Add to that a few scars from the farm and it does look like a tommahawk attact I suppose.

I have a few scars also where I got stitched back together. When I use the Clog Pruf it sometimes removes slices of the scar. I suppose eventually the scar might be level with the rest of my head.

Or for the microscope. Yeah, the slices were pretty thin, but maybe not microtome thin. No blood. I guess scar tissue doesn't bleed, or maybe it wasn't deep enough. Heck, I'm no Dr. :-) Never played one on TV either.
The title of the thread pretty much nails why I buzz cut my hair and once in a while shave it. It's cool; I never shave my head in the winter. Even fuzz under a bill fishermans cap is warmer than a shaved head. When I began doing it I was working in a a papermill and they have yet to devise one that runs cool. It just made sense at the time and got hotter as I shifted into other jobs. Now I just like the lack of maintenance since it's been 10 years since I retired from the mill.
But back to Donnies subject. I'd still flip everyone the bird (mentally) and shave it or do a minimal length buzzcut. There are electric hair cutters that have surgical length cutting heads. They run about $100 but will last forever. When my cutter poops itself that's what I'll have but maybe not that hair length.

I am new to head shaving. I started just late December and it was a decision based on my dislike of the pattern design of my hair loss: like a dog with scabies.
Feedback hasn't been great. I am always asked "why did you do it". Apparently I was the only/most displeased with my uneven hair loss. At some point I considered a hair transplant but, honestly, the amount of time, money, risk, recovery, etc ... in my eyes, just not worth the effort. I rather go bald as gracefully as possible. No juggling for this guy. So far I like it. Even in the middle of Minnesota's winter. Right now it doesn't even feel like it. But that's another subject. Anyways, I like the guy in the mirror a better now than before. That counts. Now, the lady, the vote that really counts: She helped me out with the first shave. She says she doesn't have a strong feeling about either a buzz cut or shaved. I will work on that and chances are I will end-up pleasing her. Nothing is more rewarding to me than her loving look.
BTW, For the first shaves I used an unmentionable. Only last time I used a OneBlade with good results. Will try GEMs next.

Just noticed this thread. I too shave my head , for myself , not anyone elses approval. I love how it feels , looks , etc . Like Fuzzy said about the knots, i had mine removed and with shaving they haven't returned. So i say do what YOU want and not what others want. Its you that you face in the mirror every morning and if you're happy with you then problem solved. That's my 2 cents
