This is encouraging. First day the shave was tolerable at best, second day was better, today very good. I know folks are not in love with this razor but I get a good vibe from it. It's well built, polite, and has a bit of style. I have plenty of technique to work on and I'll be settling in with the feather weight for a bit longer. Of course I have other projects that will need attention, the main one being going through the 150 half DE blades remaining for my barber straight. And I've got several other razors/blades to try. But I consider the FW a friendly face at this point and am looking to build some trust in the relationship.

Great to hear. Keep at it. Nothing at all bad about the FW.

The FW is a very nice agile razor. If you really enjoy it, then let me suggest that you also be on the look out for the Heavy Flat Top, aka G-Bar, aka Slim-V, aka Enigma razor. We don't know the official name for it but it's one of the best looking razor out there and it shares a very similar (if not the same) head as the FW. It just weighs more (thus why I think Heavy Flat Top is the best name for it - I mean come on G-Bar, even the FW has a G on the bar so they are technically both G-Bars - but I digest).
Enjoy that FW and hope you can find a HFT as well.

yes sir that HFT is a real looker, one of the prettiest razors out there imo. I also like the look of the PAL adjustable. Photogenic.

The main thing I like about the Feather Weight is that it is as close to a birth year razor as I can get in the Gem line since they were made from 1953-1958.

Nothing wrong with the FW IMO. I learned to blade shave with one this time around. It's not bad looking, it'll last forever, and it's good shaver.

The FW is a great razor. It gets a bad wrap because it's got a plastic handle. I use it for a shave or two to take the edge of a new blade before shoving the blade in more heavy weight SE razors such as the CPMM, Bullet tip or Streamline. It's light weight is an advantage and makes it very versatile. In fact, if I had to choose one SE it would be up there.

I used to have an FW but because of the plastic handle I had a hard time with it. Kept slipping around in my hand. Think I sold them to Fuzzy a while back. Great shaver though, when I could control it.

The FW was my first SE razor (at least the first one I tried shaving with) and remains a favorite of mine. I find it quite nimble and forgiving; it never fails to give me a comfortable shave. And as with Tom, it comes closer to being a birth year razor for me than any other among the Gems.
