Tuesday May 1
Razor: GEM Damaskeene Blade: GEM Stainless Brush: Dollar Store Boar & Synthetic Lather: Kiss my Face - Cool mint A/S: Alum, Lucido splash, DAISO A/S balm
Bad lather day. I'm breaking in the cheap boar brush and it wasn't ready for face lathering with the KMF. I switched to the synthetic brush in mid-shave. The lather and my face suffered a bit. Mostly BBS in the end, but more irritation than i've come to expect with the Damaskeene.

Tuesday, May 1, 2012 Prep: Hot shower Lather: MWF - face lather Brush: SOC 2-band Razor: Gem OCMM Blade: Pella PTFE (2); 2 passes Post: Cold water rinse; Krampert's Finest Bay Rum The SOC 2-band is already starting to soften at the tips. It's a soap destroyer & whips up a great lather. --------------------------------------- Wednesday, May 2, 2012 Prep: Hot shower Lather: Mike's Natural Soap VEGGIE oakmoss/sandalwood - face lather Brush: Muhle Black Fibre Razor: Gem OCMM Blade: Pella PTFE (3); 3 passes Post: Cold water rinse; Krampert's Finest Menthol First shave with the veggie formulation of MNS. Definitely need some more use for a thorough review & comparison. I will say already that Mike has once again found a great scent combination. Great shave this morning!

Wednesday AMDoug Smith scuttle Ach Brito Glyce preshave soap Somerset Simpson Duke 2 Pure brush Ginger's Garden vanilla-mint shaving soap Pal Adjustable injector razor Personna PTFE blade (1) Creed Green Irish Tweed aftershave balm CCS. I guess I'm just not a fan of this soap. The Pal is OK, but I don't really like the handle shape, and I prefer the Schick Adjustable. But hey, the sun is shining.

Wednesday May 2
Razor: GEM Junior Blade: GEM Stainless Brush: Dollar store Boar Lather: L'Occitane Cade soap A/S: Alum, Lucido splash, Aloe Vera Gel
DFS+. Not the greatest lather, but it did the job. I'm hoping that my cheapo boar will start holding more water soon. Lathering in my palm helped a lot (I usually face-lather).

May 2, 2012 Gem Push Button (first time I have shaved with this razor) GEM Ted Pella Blade KMF Shaving Cream Vintage Stanley Badger Brush Clubman AS Three passes, some light buffing resulted in a DFS, I was surprised how mild this razor is, and equally surprised how much I enjoyed the shave.

Thursday morning:
Provence Sante Verlain Omega 10019 boar OCMM 1st blade: Vintage GEM MicroMatic Durinium 2nd blade: GEM SS ptfe (2) Kramperts Finest Bay Rum
Months ago I was sent Blade #1 by a friend to try it in a MM and tell him how it worked. Well, A modern GEM blade is sharper after 14 shaves than this one straight out of the wrapper. BUT there are factors out of ones control with a vintage blade. This is a carbon steel blade and carbon steel blades rust just by being in humidity. How and where was it stored? I have no idea. Maybe the blade was fantastic when new. I'll never know. The balde didn't even make it through one pass. I swapped to the OCMM with the modern blade to finish the shave.
Great shave otherwise.

Thursday AMBecker scuttle Homemade frankincense & myrrh preshave oil Somerset Simpson Astor Best brush Woods of Windsor shaving soap Gem MMOC razor Gem Stainless blade (5) Woods of Windsor aftershave balm A truly great shave. The old Astor lathers beautifully, and its tips are as soft as those of any Plisson. And the vintage shaving soap left my skin soft and moisturized. I had some trepidation about using the MMOC, because I usually don't like aggressive razors, but it made me BBS with no nicks at all.
