I wanted to document my relationship with this iconic injector and your thoughts and experiences as well.
First time I saw it was in 1972 when Personna released the Black handled Floating Head along with the P74 injector blades.
Then in 1973 they released the Blue handled Floating Head with the Personna II Twin injector blades...
When I first saw it on the selves, I was skeptical. I thought it was a gimmick to fix a problem that didn't exist, and would take away my control of the razor. I think I was thinking it could be a "loose cannon" with a moving head. And I was skeptical of the tungstun blade thing. I thought it was just marketing using the Space Program and Tungstun to try and get a leg up on Schick. So I wrote it off.
Fast forward a couple years, my Pop made me try the P74 injector blades I was knocked out. This got me to thinking, that I needed to try Personna's revolutionary new injector aswell...But alas....It wasn't around too much longer. I had no idea how quickly Gillette was going to cartrify the whole shaving scene.
Next thing you know....I didn't see this iconic razor for 40 years,I completely forgot about it! Then one day right here, I read where Drumsalot got one and was raving about how great it was. Then a number of folks grabbed them and wrote loving reviews! Looked like Personna had hit a homerun but their timing was ill fated. Since then I've been dying to try one.
Now that brings us up to today, our very own Jamie got several unused Personna Floating Heads and in a HUGE generous and thoughtful fashon he informed me he wanted to gift me one, as he knows my interest in this very razor. Yep Jamie is a true TOSTer in his Thoughtful Words and Deeds.
So this razor is suppose to be in the mailbox today. I haven't shaved for 3 days, so I have the whiskers for a 'proper' introduction.
Sooo this concludes this Preface to this Post...I will document everything from opening through extensive testing.
Now please, you gentlemen who are interested or fans of this razor...POST your thoughts and experiences....This was a truely original design by the Good Folks at our beloved ASR/Personna, in their last attempt to perfect the injector. Although not on the market long enough to have been a success. But was it a good design or not? Reguardless of the answer, this razor has historical significance for lovers of ASR and injectors and needs to be tested and remembered.
Time to hit the mailbox...Now lets whip up some lather, and let the whiskers fall where they may.
