How strong a scent is the cucumber version Jon? I ask because I've just sold my rose thayers as my wife really hated the scent. My sense of smell isn't that great so it didn't smell very strong to me. Maybe I should try the unscented version; witch hazel has a pretty strong smell though, I don't want to buy the unscented to find that it just smells of witch hazel. I made my own toner before, 50% witch hazel and 50% rose water. It smelled very strongly of witch hazel. It was a while since I had it, but very mild, background scent. Not unpleasant, very fresh. The Lemon Tea Tree oil I added to neat witch hazel seems to have overwhelmed the WH smell...

I use Dickenson's Witch Hazel as part of my post shave routine. It's cold rinse, WH, then I clean up while the WH dries. After that, I use my favorite AS.

Yup. I still do this. Almost every shave is two lather and a witch hazel pass for touchup. After reading this, I have used just a splash of WH to do a little touch up here or there... But last night, I followed your recipe exactly....2 passes with a thick Williams lather and one complete touch-up pass with just a major splash of Thayers Rose Petal Original Witch Hazel. I was using my PAL Injecto-matic with a NOS Personna Chromium Plus day 1.... Man.....all factors came through with flying colors....the razor, the Williams, the blade, the Clubman Vanilla/Aqua Velva Musk AS, and most definitely....The Fuzzy Witch Hazel Only Touch-up Pass!!!!! Man, this might be the most polished, squeaky clean BBS of my life!!! Thanks 'Fearless'.....This is BIG.....I'm sharing this across the street at the Injector & SE Party thread, and giving you full credits....check it out, if you want to make a cameo... theshaveden.com/forums/threads/injector-se-party.23113/page-362

I've actually started doing this prior to joining the forum. I had seen one of your videos and gave it a try. I like doing touch-ups with this as there is zero cushion, so I can really feel and hear the razors feedback and get those last few problem areas and if you get a little too close, well, the witch hazel is right there.

I ALWAYS do a W-H clean up pass, since Fuzzy hipped me to it.. I prefer Thayer's Rose Scent and would love to try the Peach....BUT, I would never hesitate to use the economy brands...its just my corner PCC carries Thayers and it's just too easy to throw it in my cart....
I go on record rocommending the "W-H pass" practice...for me it makes for that "patting the dolphin" finish more ofyen than not.
