I have the exact same brush in my den. I bought it in a little antique shop in Navasota Texas about 3 years ago. Mine is a bit thin as well, but as you said, it is an awesome face latherer. I wish mine had more of the gold leaf still on the engraved part, but it is so old, that I dont know how long it was supposed to last. I know KenSurfs on youtube did a restoration of one of the EverReady models, that turned out really good. He even did a reknot, that looked almost original.
I will always have it in my den, even if it doesnt get used all the time, it is a reminder at what they used in a time gone by, so I keep it around.
I say dont restore it, just use it as is, and if too many hairs fall out, then consider a reknot, but until then, just use it for what it is.
