I've been cleaning this up while waiting on the knot, 23mm Silver Tip, it arrived this week and I put it in yesterday. I will use it this morning

Wow!!! That is an amazing looking handle. Thanks, it cleaned up pretty well. I ended up sanding the green as it was pretty stained and it changed colour completely, I guess this is how it was new. I left the bottom so as not to lose the lettering and you can see the difference in colour Very pleased with it!

Probably a combination of cigarettes, kerosene, and general air pollution and grunge, they get an amber layer of funk that won't wash off. If it was white, cream, or yellow to start with, some of the dimweeds would call it "butterscotch", and they would actually pay more for it! I would just call it dirty and discolored. You did the right thing and cleaned it down to the original color.

I might have left it if it had been even discolouration but when I cleaned the darker stains the other parts looked dark and so on, so I had to do it all, glad I did. I could have used the original knot but it was thining and after all that work I deserved a bit of luxury.

It's a beauty. Your brush, your decision on knot. Excellent choice.

Beautiful brush!! I did one with a Silver tip from The Golden Nib several years ago. It is still going strong.
