For our May "themed" week we're featuring the so-called Slim-V family. These are the Heavy Flat-Top (aka G Bar) and the Feather Weight. Share with us your shaves using these classic razors of the '50s. There will be a separate SOTD thread for those of you choosing a different razor this week.

Tuesday morning:
P.160 Modified Semogue 1250 (test) GEM Featherweight GEM SS ptfe (6) Kramperts Finest bay rum
Not my favorite razor, because of the feel of it during the shave (too mild), but it's still one fine shave.

Gem Feather Weight Gem SS/PFTE Blade (8) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Barbasol Pacific Rush
I've started the Slim-V week with my old favorite, the Feather Weight. I experienced the comfortable shave I've come to expect from this razor on both days. Tomorrow I'm moving to the Heavy Flat-Top (G Bar).
As a side note, I found and purchased a NOS glass bottle of Aqua Velva at a rural Missouri grocery store the past weekend and had the pleasure of using some on Monday. Great stuff...just as I remembered it!

Gem Heavy Flat-Top Gem SS/PFTE Blade (9) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Pinaud Clubman
My experience today with the HFT wasn't so great. It seemed much more irritating than usual. I believe my blade is showing its age even though I normally get several more good shaves out of one of the Ted Pella type blades. I've already put a new one in and I'll see if that improves the shave tomorrow morning.

Well, I broke down and dragged one out.
GEM Pushbutton PTFE x1 Omega Pro Boar Truefitt & Hill puck
Not so bad really. I hadn't used the Pushbutton yet and was pleasantly surprised that it gave a decent shave. I do rather like the mechanism - particularly for closing the hood onto the blade. And, I rather like the light weight. The handle was more comfortable than I thought too so I figure I gotta give the darn thing a thumbs up!!
I have to be careful as you guys are getting me out of my ways and trying these new fangled gadgets!

Yep, it was the old blade that was the culprit. I've gotten nice comfortable and close shaves with the HFT ever since I loaded up a new blade Thursday morning.
