After few shaves ...
theoriginalsafety2.com/post/55898/threadtheoriginalsafety2.com/post/55933/threadtheoriginalsafety2.com/post/56035/thread... this is a short review.
Contrary to my favorite, the Colonial Razors "The General" Black Aluminium, It was not love at first sight.
The blade feels very much, even if the result at the end is absolutely comfortable.
But the shaving was not very pleasant, also because of certain roughness in the profile of the head.
I also found the maintenance inconvenient.
The cleaning of the head, so tapered that the blade seemed to be jammed, was cumbersome.
A non-wire work at the ends of the base would have been more comfortable.
The geometry of the head gives a sharper angle to the blade.
This translates into a minor
"arch" (to use an analogy with unmentionable), which makes the feeling more pronounced.
By adjusting the handle to give a wider cutting angle, the right method is found.
All made easy by the excellent balance, moderate weight (to be in steel), and elongated shapes.
In fact, comfort has been decidedly marked.
And the result was better too, allowing the blade to work at its best.
In three passes (WTG / ATG / XTGR), a BBS just below the unnatural perfection of the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power FlexBall.
So, considering the structural differences, in relation I would say about 495% better to the advantage of the single blade.
High shaving pleasure.
High comfort, both during and after.
High duration of the performance.
If it were not for the other two problems encountered, it would have been perfect !!
In fact, the crudeness of the front corners of the cap are decidedly uncomfortable. (see
Img1)
Especially in angled passages and in curved and / or narrow areas.
Not to mention the low tolerance of the blade hooking pins.
My favorites (Kai Captain ProTouch) are not accepted with the necessary sweetness, and remain raised. (see
Img2)
So much so that it is clearly seen that they block and hang the blade stop that does not touch the base. (see
Img3)
In the phase of compression this leads to blade locking on the pins.
The height of the pins, and the lack of lateral slots on the base, make blade handling difficult and absolutely unpleasant. (see
Img4)
Both during cleaning and obviously changing phase, the blade is so tightened to not comfortably exit.
Mind you, nothing that a nail and a minimum of leverage does not solve fast ...
but when wet is not so simple.
For a product of that level (premium), I find it a flaw of design and engineering.
Fortunately, customer support is excellent.
I wrote an email, and the owner himself (on Sunday!!) brilliantly solved the situation.
This is his answer:
Two birds with one stone.
The new piece is already on the road to Italy with a free, fast and tracked shipping.
I'm
really impressed.
