My next test will be to re-use that blade and see if it mellows out with use. You're using Treet blades, from what I heard in the video, correct? Have you tried Pal carbons, CVS/Accutec/ASR carbons, Gem Blue Star carbons or Gem stainless blades yet? I don't see a vast difference with SE blades, but it trying a few different types may rule out a variable. Pal carbons and Gem stainless are my preferred blades.

Doesn't seem to be a difference. I need to try some carbon blades next.

Well, then you just do it on your bare skin. You might have to shave your belly first though.

I did a test today on the recommendations you all gave. Didn't see much of an improvement. The problem is always the same area. The neck and jawline. I cannot go ATG on this area with any sort of angle, pressure, or length of stroke. Seems the micromatics wont give a very smooth shave. I do fine for 2 passes. That 3rd ATG is the one that's the problem. As long as I don't do that pass all is well. Can you maybe provide an exact summary of what you did, and did not, do or change? That would be helpful. A few observations: - You seem to be shaving regularly. Which means that any irritation caused by previous shaves will not have enough time to properly heal. Take a few days off. The OCMM (or really any SE) will easily handle a few days of growth.
- If three passes are too much, use two. I skip the XTG pass entirely, irrespective of the SE I use. I only use it when shaving with a cut-throat razor.
- Do not shave the same part of your face more than three times during one shave. Irritation is typically caused by too much pressure applied to the same spot. It is exacerbated by shaving in the wrong direction (again, use the mapping tool, and keep a copy of the resulting growth map at hand whilst shaving).
Sounds Germanic, probably is, but will work. And yes, Micromatics do give smooth shaves. If they do not work for you, it is not the razor's fault. I have had this discussion with friends and staff, and it was always a mixture of insufficient beard preparation, lack of mapping, and too much pressure. Always.

If I do 2 passes and skip the ATG I get no irritation. But then Im stuck with a sub par shave. I have alot wedge SE's and an injector. Also have a few straights. Only paint scraper type SE's are giving me issues. I need to try my new eveready and see if its the blades or the razors. Also most are recommending the Gem SS PTFE blades. Im using the persona gem and treet SS. So maybe I need to try other blades. The treet does a better job on me than the Gem persona.

Ha! Yes! The injector is my favorite SE razor. Always gives easy smooth shaves without all the technique needed. only the Gem MM's give me grief. Yo Vint...When I first read this I thought about sharing this vid with you, but alas, stright-life kicked in and I got side-tracked... But, I'm back.... Have you seen this? I checked this out, while I was waiting for my first OCMM from HoosierTrooper/Tom, many moons ago...I think it might have help, as when that MM made the scene it was love at first stroke...😍

The Micromatic series had a 19 year run. It wasn't aimed at a niche of sport shavers. The original MMOC had a 10 year run and was one of the best selling razors of the decade. There's nothing wrong or radical in the design.
No law says you have to do an ATG pass with a blade as sharp and rigid as the Gem PTFE, with proper technique (skin stretching, flat angle, no pressure) WTG and XTG should get anybody awfully close to where you need to be. I do a two pass shave (combining XTG/ATG) with my MMOC, with no nick's, irritation, or complaints. I don't even perceive the MMOC as an aggressive razor. I do long strikes as ASR recommended.
