Wednesday June 6 Razor: GEM MIcromatic Clog-Pruf Blades: GEM carbon steel relieved by GEM Stainless Brush: Turkish Horse Hair Lather: KMF Cool Mint A/S: Alum, Lucido splash, Aloe Vera Gel Mostly BBS. The first pass (with a carbon steel blade) was uncomfortable and tuggy. I ditched the cs blade for the second and touch-up passes and all was right with my shaving world once again...

The Star blade (vintage?) actually seems sharper and smoother than Gem blades. I gotta admit I still love to read through your sotds!!! It kinda puts me in a dreamy state with all these wonderful soaps and products you employ. This Ach Brito Glyce preshave soap you list. Is this a soap marketed/intended as a pre-shave soap or is it hand soap that you use for washing prior to a shave?? I have been religiously doing a pre-shave soap wash for quite some time now and find that it enhances the prep considerably resulting in a far superior shave than when I don't use it. I have not been too experimental though with the selection of soaps and have really just used whatever we have had laying around the house. I used Williams shave pucks for a while, the odd pure glycerin, and then some Walmart stuff here and there. I am very intrigued by your selections and would love to hear wasssss up with that!

Saturday, June 9, 2012Prep: Cold water rinse Lather: MWF - ultra face lather Brush: Muhle Black Fibre Razor: Valet AutoStrop VC1 Blade: Modified Pella PTFE (1); 3 passes Post: Cold water rinse; hot shower My first use of MWF with an UltraLather shave and it was great. It is not as easy to create the lather as Mike's is, but it really is a fine lather and great post-shave skin care. I will be making videos with this to show the differences in lather type and creation once I get my camera back. After today's UltraLather I really hope that no one is shaving with this soap when it's light and airy as it's very possible to get a creamy lather with MWF and it's amazing when you do.

Saturday AM 06-09-2012Straight Razor Designs scuttle Ach Brito Glyce preshave soap Somerset Simpson Commodore X2 Best brush DR Harris Windsor shaving cream Gem Heavy Flat Top (G-Bar) razor Gem SS PTFE blde (3) DR Harris Windsor aftershave Quite a good shave. The cream provided the typical great Harris lather, and I didn't have my usual awkwardness changing from DE to SE razor. I would have liked more scent in both the cream and the aftershave. The aftershave had a nice light melon touch, but the scent overall was a little too subtle. This was echoed by SWMBO. I was asked about the Ach Brito Glyce. It's marketed as a preshave soap. I believe it is made by the same company as MR GLO (Musgo Real Lime), just with slightly different ingredients and scent and quite a bit cheaper. I'm BBS now to head out and see MIB III in 3D.

I was on the road almost the entire week and so I packed my usual "road warrior" kit, featuring the Gem Feather Weight. It gave me a great shave each day. I used the Junior on the mornings I was home and got an equally good (if not better) shave.
