Awhile back I acquired a really ugly '06 in a lot of razors from e-bay. Frankly I didn't even know it was part of the lot until I received it. Did I mention how butt ugly it was/is? The other day I saw it in the boneyard and decided to do something with it and about it. So I sprayed it with Brownells Aluma-Hyde- a gun finish that doesn't require baking. OK, so it's not quite so butt ugly, amazing what a coat of paint can do. If it doesn't hold up I'll strip it somehow and use a baked on finish and that will hold up. The handle also came out of the boneyard, and it too has seen much better days. For literally just a few bucks, it's a useable razor now. The first time I used it it was clean but in butt ugly condition. I used it today with the finish on it and it still shaves great, and since the corrosion is encased in the epoxy finish I'm not afraid of getting lockjaw or something similar.

Aye Caramba!! Butt ugly indeed captures this razor's pre-reno state. Yikes!
I imagine the gun paint should be pretty sturdy on that frame. You must be commended for bringing that 1906 back from the depths of your boneyard!

Nice save, were you also able to paint the original handle? I kind of like the way the finish looks, but how about a really bright, high gloss paint? That could start a whole new trend!

I was thinking a series of 1906's all lined up in a holder - red, blue, yellow, lime, white - all gloss! Be kinda cool.

:-)
I thought of painting the handle, but the finish really needs something rough to hold onto and the handle wasn't corroded enough IMO. Plus I really don't like the original handle. The entire razor is unbelievably light with it in place.
I used what I had on hand. They do make a SS color, but I don't have any.

I *LIKE* the looks of that. Always good when you can bring one back. Kinda reminds me of a Weber....
