Gem Junior 1912 Gem SS/PFTE Blade (6) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Palmolive Shave Stick Aqua Velva Ice Blue
I have a small piece of a Palmolive Shave Stick left. It was so small that I haven't even considered using it for months now. This morning I got it out as a sort of comparison to the Arko stick. The Palmolive stick is quite nice but I think that the Arko is a bit better. I get a noticeably richer lather with it. Nevertheless, I had a very nice comfortable shave today.

Saturday, June 16, 2012Prep: Tepid shower Lather: RazoRock King Louis (Thanks Dave!) - ultra face lather Brush: Muhle Silvertip Fibre faux horn Razor: Valet AutoStrop VC1 Blade: Modified Ted Pella PTFE (5); 3 passes Post: Cold water rinse; Krampert's Finest Bay Rum Had a little interruption from my son between pass 2 & 3 so the shave didn't end up being my best, but I'm still very impressed with the performance of both the Muhle Silvertip Fibre brush and the King Louis soap. I'm really getting anxious to see how the KL stacks up head to head with the LaFam soaps. Merry Father's Day Eve to all.

Saturday Brush: Vie-Long Horse Soap/Creme: Proraso Sandalwood Razor: Gem 1912 Blade:Gillette Blue pack Pre: 3P Post: Lilac Vegetal Hair Groom: Jeris Result: BBS. A really good shave with my 1912, and, using 1/2 of a DE blade in a holder I made to tide me over until my new blades arrive next week, no less.

Gem OCMM Gem SS/PFTE Blade (8) Made-Rite 500PB Brush C.O. Bigelow Cream Family Dollar Witch Hazel with Glycerine and Essential Oils
After a year of SE shaving, it's gotten to the point where I get an equally comfortable shave not matter what razor I use. The last couple of day I've gotten mild shaves from the OCMM. I remember the days when this would bite me if I didn't concentrate; now it's almost boring!

All this Schick talk has injected its way into my head WCHNU - congrats on the Hydromagic use! Lloyd - love your pops mug on the mug. The Arko set up too - did you grate the soap first and press it in or? No grating...I just pressed a Shave stick flat with a glass cassarole dish....It was still in its wrapper...I flattened it the same width as the dispenser...Unwrapped it, and pressed it on the empty and cleaned shelf from the deoderant dispenser...then set it on top of the screw and turned the handle backwards and held the stick tight on the shelf as it got threaded in the dispenser... Works great...hands don't even get wet or soapy....and it travels very well....
