Simple shave today. Had a little extra time, so I figured I'd use it wisely and share the shave as well.

Razor: Ever-Ready 1924 with Bakelite Baton Handle Blade: GEM SS PTFE (2) Soap: Stirling Grapefruit with Menthol Brush: Omega Boar A/S: Alum Block, Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel, Clubman Citrus Musk First time trying the ER 1924 with the Bakelite baton handle from a 1912. It makes the 1924 a lot lighter (1.6oz.) which feels a little odd at first but the weight is virtually the same as my GEM Junior with same handle. The 1924 with the solid brass handle weighs 2.42oz. I started out with a GEM Carbon Steel blade which had 4 shaves on it but it felt really rough, still sharp but very uncomfortable, so I switched to a GEM Coated Stainless Steel blade with 2 shaves under its belt and everything was smooth sailing. In general I only get 4-5 shaves out of a carbon steel blade before they are uncomfortable, where a GEM Stainless Steel blade keeps on going, the last one I retired after 20 shaves. There was no remarkable difference in the shave for me using the baton handle, but if you like fatter handles and a lighter weight razor, give it a try.

It looks great on the ER24.

My sweetheart picked up this Clog Pruf for me at a local shop. It'll be my first try with it. It was really grubby, but cleaned up nicely.

February 8thMy 2nd shave with the Shovel Head -- 2 passes plus a witch hazel touch-up -- and the results were great. I've been really impressed with this razor...excellent audio-feedback and incredibly efficient. 1924 Ever-Ready "Shovel Head" | Treet blade (5th shave) | Haslinger Schafmilch | Yaqi 26mm Rainbow Brown Synth | Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum

So here is what happened... there was a spam post in the thread. In the process of cleaning that up instead of the post being deleted the thread was deleted. I have a email in with proboards support. I do not think the thread can be recovered. Sorry for the lost post. Sorry Fuzzy. I remember reporting that spam post, so I set the wheels in motion. No need for sorry. I am on day 8 of atleast a month straight nights. Please report things!!

Fri 8th Feb. Today I used my favourite ER 1912 , one from a Bathroom set. The Handle is longer/ fatter than early 1912s , and is very tactile and also makes the combo very manouvrable. Also, I think the head has been tweaked so that the modern blade is gripped more securely , so reduces the characteristic chatter associated with earlier versions. Anyway, the Shave is extremely smooth, the combo being quite forgiving yet efficient too. I had no problems getting a Top Notch Shave with a great close all round finish. This would be the perfect Razor for anyone wishing to try SE Shaving for the first time. just a shame that it not more readily available as it was of UK manufacture only as far as I know.
