I acquired an aluminum handled Zinn last week off eBay. Couldn’t be more pleased with it HOWEVER.. I recall when I first modified a DE blade for my black handled one in 2010 all I needed to do was snap one in half. For the aluminum handled one I not only had to snap it in half but cut the “wings” off the sides. From the pictures you can see the front of the head measuring roughly 1 1/2 inches. Can someone with a black handle Zinn verify the head being wider. It’s really bugging me 😂😂😂 Attachments:

It’s also, IMO, the forerunner to the 1912. One of the most comfortable SE razors I’ve ever used 👍🏼

That's a 1905 Zinn "Automatic" and it used its proprietary Zinn "wafer-thin" blades. You should be able to use injector blades with it. As a matter of fact those blades inspired both Christy blades and Col. Jacob Schick for his "Magazine repeating razor". I've never seen the aluminium handle before.

I've only seen them on the shaving forums, I asked someone how they open, apparently they open just enough to slip a blade in,... cool razor. In other words,... I'm no help at all!

View AttachmentOver the past 10 years I’ve owned at least 3 different ones: black wooden handle, brown wooden handle and aluminum handle... but not at the same time. I recall using a 1/2 DE blade with zero modifications on the black handle version but with the aluminum handled one I had to do slight modifications to the blade. So my guess is .. POSSIBLY... the head width changed at some point 🤷🏻♂️ I’ve got a black handle one en route so I’ll be able to see first hand 👍🏼
