Hello All, I know it's been awhile since I posted anything but that is what happens when your shaving becomes routine. Anyway, the reason I'm writing is for some help. I have two Schick Eversharp razors a G4 and a E2. The G4 shaves great as does my EverReady from the 20's and the armful of unmentionables I have. When I got my E2 back in July (for $5 delivered with case) I was a nubie to wet shaving and it cut me kinda badly in that area between the curl of my lips, my jaw line and chin. I thought I had not gained enough experience so I shelved the E2. Today I figured "hey I've been shaving well with all my razors, especially the G4 so let's try the E2 again. Well no it really has some thing wrong, my angle, pressure and pull were just right but the thing still cut me! So guys look at the pics I can't see any thing wrong with the razor. If you guys see any thing wrong with the thing let me know and can it be repaired or should I just chuck it and replace it. You guys always come through,so let me know.

Those are some really low res photos. I can't make anything out. The E2 I believe is a very aggressive razor. At least the ones I have used... It may have something to do with the fact that the spring is movable. It may not be putting enough pressure on the base plate. Also, you can do the old ride the cap with this razor. You are probably getting too much of an angle with it.

I can not tell from the photos. The first thing to check is that the blade is behind the stops. It is fairly easy for one corner to ride up. Is it one of the early models that opens? I have one of those. It can be a beast. Takes very light presssure and good angle control.

I don't know if it is one of the operable ones How could I tell? I'll post better pictures later. If it doesn't open, then the round spring is fixed in place on both sided by small raised bumps like your G4. If it opens for cleaning, then it won't have a bump on the left side of the spring, you can press on the tab on the right side of the spring and the spring will slide to the left and the head opens.

I really think your problem is angle and pressure. This razor takes a light touch and a shallow angle. Of course, you should make sure the blade is seated properly on the blade stops.

It looks like it has a huge gap. If you are used to engaging the "safety bar" I can see why you may cut yourself. As suggested, raise the handle more and ride the cap. Use a shallow angle. You may not even need to engage the safety bar to get a great shave. Don't forget the light touch.

Look at the gap on this Schick. It is much milder.

Perhaps I could send it to one of you and you could look it over to see if every thing is as it should be? Also how much pressure does it take to open one of these?

I'd be glad to take a look at it. It shouldn't take a lot of pressure to open. Although the idea of opening it up to clean seems like a good idea, there is a good reason they decided to lock down the spring. It just makes using the razor so much easier, and you don't have to bother putting a loose blade back in after cleaning. I will PM you my address if you want to send it to me.

Have you measured and compared the blade gap on a G to an E2. I can't find any significant difference with mine. I told Fuzzy a while back on his YouTube channel that my E2 shaves just the same as my G1's. I have only one E2 so I don't have any others to compare it too.
