Hello everyone, well, this long weekend I had some very nice shaves with some instruments that I have but haven't used yet. I finally got some single edge blades from Andrews store and gave my GEM push button a try, very nice shave. Didn't even know I was cutting myself until I saw the blood in the mirror.. I also tried the micromatic that I have with the same results. Nice shave, but sharp. Next up I tried the NOS L1 that I received. A very nice shave, but pretty mild. I will have to say that I prefer the G1 in comparison. I did try my new Williams soap that I received with these shaves, and other that difficult to load, for me anyway, it was still slick and I was able to get the job done. Hope you all had a great weekend. Time to start the new work week tomorrow night.

While tempting, I would advise against switching razors in rapid succession. On the contrary, I would try to keep the entire setup as stable as possible, including for the highest quality paraphernalia available. Whenever I try new razors, I try them for an entire week, using Meißner Tremonia (YYMV, could be Castle Forbes, or Green Mountain Soap - anything that delivers high quality, consistent lather, and above average after-shave skin care) only. The rationale being that in my personal experience, my skin takes a few days to adapt to a new razor. Again, YMMV

I have five Gems lined up for this week: Flat Heavy Top, Feather Weight, Gold Feather Weight, Push Button, and Contour. With the exception of Williams Wednesday, I will be using Amalfi Basil Lemon.

The other single edge that I have is a little Ever-Ready. Maybe I'll give it a shot next weekend.

Again, YMMV totally agree with you, especially with new razors not only skin, but also the gesture needs to adapt. Earlier in my wetshaving journey I used to switch razor every one or two days...now I stick to one for a week at least.

I couldn't agree more, and a minimum week-long rotation of new razors is SOP (standard operating procedure) for me.

Well. I got some new blades and couldn't resist trying them out.😀 Did we try out the SE?? The only one I have left to try currently is the everready. I like the GEM pushbutton. Easy and smooth. Need more practice with the OCMM though. I really like my Schick G1. I also have a Schick E?, but haven't tried it yet though.
