At this point it looks like I'll be able to spend a couple hours at this event. Is there anything anyone wants me to look out for? I'm hoping there will be some vintage SEs and some Treet or Blue Star blades for sale. If they have any soap samples maybe I can cop a few.

OK, I'm heading out to Chandler in about an hour. We'll see if I can score some soaps and blades.

I watched a couple of videos from the event. Appeared to me to be more so devoted to the unmentionable crowd.

The event was held in one of the banquet rooms at the Crown Resort. It was scheduled to open at 10:00 am but I got there at 9:45 and walked right in. I left about 11:10. All the table space for vendors was filled. I counted about 19 or 20 vendors there. To me this seemed to be mostly an artisan event. The only big name I saw there was Edwin Jagger. Most of the vendors seemed to be artisan soap makers. There were 4 artisan brush makers, a guy giving shaves in a barber chair, a guy making custom razor cases, and a guy selling used straight unmentionables. Really, the only vendor I saw that was selling big name soaps, razors, brushes, etc. was Matt from Razor Emporium (local guy). He had a big set-up of all kinds of factory manufactured stuff. The rest of the vendors seemed to be dedicated to handmade soap and brushes. Douglas from Phoenix Accoutrements and the folks from WSP (2 local companies) were there also. Douglas had some of those new single edge razors for sale; I should have bought one but ran out of time. I guess later in the day they were going to have seminars on shave related subjects and such. I didn’t see any blades or vintage razors for sale. There was always a crowd in front of the vendor tables. Sometimes you had to wait to get up to the table to smell or handle the merchandize. So on the whole it seemed geared more to artisan stuff and shave education. Most of this stuff you can buy online but by attending the event you could actually smell the scents and handle the merchandise. The vendors were all very gracious and helpful. This is an event that you should plan on spending time at so that you can talk to all the vendors and other folks and share experiences and information. I had a nice time and I would go again. Disclaimer: I was only there for an hour and a half so I probably missed a lot of what was happening and what was planned for the rest of the day. So if any of the vendors feel my view of the event is misleading or wrong it was unintentional on my part.

There was a speed shave competition, a lather building competition and trivia contest. From the videos I saw, I do agree with your analysis about the artisan aspect. Not that it's a bad thing, I would love to go just to smell the soaps and handle the razors. Part of the reason I go to gun shows as well. Glad you at least got to look around.

What, to handle the revolvers and smell the Hoppes?...me too!!

Sounds like good times under the bridge. He might need to upgrade to a blue tarp to keep folks out though. As I recall from a forum post elsewhere. "if you drinking sterno, you best drinking days are behind you." I would agree. Edit: somehow I screwed up the quote. I was replying to the post about someone breaking into a house and drinking up the sterno.
