4/25/19 Thursday Evening
GEM Pushbutton Pella Blade Vulfix # 1 brush Williams CVS Witch Hazel
After rooting around in the razor drawer I found an old GEM pushbutton I haven’t used in ages. Loaded it up with a Pella and away I went. It seems a mild razor but the shave is very close. The only con I find with it is to me the head seems to retain water after I rinse it which then runs out of the head and down my face. I have to remember to shake it after rinsing. No big deal. I better make it to that shave show this Saturday as I have just enough soap left for a couple of days. I may try some of that Stirling “Island Man”.

First one I got I walked around all day clicking that mechanism back and forth... I'll admit it....I'm easily amused, and that razor can keep me happy for hours😜😝

Thur 25th April Simpson Chubby 1 /Maggards 2 Band Blues Shaving Soap Personna Super Stainless SE - Ex Travel Set Personna coated [ 5 ] Pitralon Classic A/S Lotion For some time I regretted opening up the NOS Travel Kit containing this Razor, as using Schick Blades it would not work for me. Then one day after using my Supply with a Personna blade, I decided to try my least favourite blade in the Personna, and it was a great success.I have just completed my 5th Shave with that combo, and again had a smooth Shave with a good close all round finish. IMHO the Personna delivers better Shaves than those I get with my Supply SE. I am quite pleased that I now enjoy using this rather rare [ at least in UK] Vintage but modern looking Injector, and now do not regret opening up the NOS Pack.

Ever-Ready SE, T-400 brush and vintage Old Spice Burley after shave. I'd also like to get hold of a vintage Old Spice Lime from '66, but it's so rare, their prices skyrocketed.

Friday's ShaveCold Water Rinse Amalfi Basil Lemon Jayaruh #343 Synthetic Ever-Ready 1909 Vintage Gem Cutlery SE CWR Dove Men+Care Post Shave Balm My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Amalfi Basil Lemon Shave Soap face lathered well with Jayaruh #343 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Ever-Ready 1909 razor with a Vintage Gem Cutlery SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Dove Men+Care Post Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Shumate razor with desplined and shimmed Gem SS blade, B & M Seville soap, Omega 102 boar, Clubman Classic Vanilla AS! This is a very mild razor circa 1920, a pleasure to shave with, originally designed for wedge blades and manufactured in St. Louis. A two piece razor, handle and base as one piece and a cap that slides on from the front to hold blade in place. A very simple design and probably very cheap to make-this is the only one I have seen as company was very well known in straight razor business until 1920. I made a Gem purchase on the Bay(mostly junk and parts) and the seller loaded the box with items not even listed.

Really liking the Gem Junior. In fact it's all I've used since Monday. It's a great shaver. Today I started ATG and had no issues. (I had shaved yesterday afternoon so stubble was a bit shorter than normal). No cuts, nicks or weepers and it shaves so close. My Gem with the Bakelite handle showed up so will probably break that out tomorrow. What are the models with the Bakelite handles called? Mine just says Gem Razor on it and has a closed comb.

Razor: TNNSER 3D Blade: Gem CS Brush: Rubberset Soap: Tabac AS: Brut Classic First shave impressions. Mind you I might be a bit biased. The shave was as good as the original TNNSER. A very mild feeling but very efficient. It is a bit strange shaving with such a light SE. If you keep your same technique it is awesome. I want to go over a few details with riverrunOnce I do, I think I will release the files so you can print your own. This is an honor type thing. I am freely giving my file out for your own personal use. IT IS NOT TO BE USED TO MAKE AND SELL TO OTHERS!!!!! I want to share my creations with fellow enthusiasts. Tom

Fri 26th April RazoRock Syn. 24mm P & B Pall Mall Schick Type F Schick S/S - Chick [ 1 ] Floid Vigoroso A/S Lotion I chose to use the Type F today, which many consider to be quite mild. I find that it is very smooth yet efficient at removing my relatively harsh beard. This is particularly true today as with a fresh blade, the Shave was ultra smooth and within normal Shave time was completed. The quality of the finished Shave was of the Top Notch variety and probably my best one this week. Of the Schicks that I own, the F is probably the nicest to hold and use, as it is very manoeuvrable and responds to a light touch.
