So I've tried two kinds of canned cream with menthol. Barbasol Pacific Rush and Gillette Sensitive Cool. Neither one gave my any cool or cold sensation. Are some folks immune to menthol and the cooling effect?

That must be menthol for whimps. I suggest Fine Snake Bite or Sterling's Eskimo Tuxedo. Make your own lather like a man.

Almost any Stirling product will freeze your face.

Make your own lather like a man. LOL On the other hand, I'm man enough to admit I use canned foam sometimes and like it.

Almost any Stirling product will freeze your face. It probably is down to the product and the ones I mention must not have much menthol in them. I do get a cooling sensation from the Duke Cannon balm I have and I thought the foams would be similar, they are not.

I find with the Pacific Rush, it helps if I shake the can. Seems as though the menthol will settle?

Also, make sure the Pacific Rush is the NEW one and has Menthol and Caffeine written on the can. The older Pacific Rush is still on some selves and it has NO menthol.
Then if it is the New Pacific Rush...Shake can good and apply generously, and let it sit for 3 minutes...I've found if something interupts me...That the menthol kick really gets stronger and the foam still stays moist.
If that doesn't work...Then you do need something stronger....like Snakebite or Kramperts Frostbite (this one with the AS also has a ton of skin conditioning qualities aswell as freeze)....

I fall into the “try Stirling” camp. I’ve enjoyed Stirling’s Margaritas in the Arctic, although it’s not everyone’s favorite....my wife told me it smells like insect repellent!!! She’s very particular about scents, and the only thing I’ve used that she likes so far are Krampert’s Finest after shaves (both the Bay Rum and the Frostbite — which is another great menthol product).

Yup, it's the new Pac Rush. I will try the shaking.

Never tried the foam stuff in years. I fall into the Stirling Glacial camp. I even purchased menthol crystals to add to my existing balms that don't have menthol. Also, to add a little more oomph to soaps I want a chill from.

Another suggestion would be water temperature. I've been a cold water shaver for many months now (inspired and converted by jayaruh) -- and I find the cold water REALLY activates the menthol.

The only bad thing about cold water is that it isn't warm water. 15 demerits for you, and remember, the cartel is always watching.

I'm not too worried -- today I used a self-honed wedge blade in a 1904 GEM LC with modern Williams....the cartel should be pleased (I know I am)!!!
