The AS strops are very thin. I did my 7th shave with this blade. I stropped it before and after the shave. It is getting better. This was my best shave yet. Thanks -- I think the thinness is definitely the challenge. I REALLY like the shaves I get from my B2 -- haven't tried my B1 or VC1, and I'm very anxious to try the A1 that's on it's way. I've been enjoying seeing everyone's AutoStrops!!! I'll keep an eye open for a usable/restoreable strop and some NOS blades. Probably be awhile, but I'll be back Fred, I have an extra Valet AS strop. It is like the one I am currently using to strop my blades. I can send it to you if you like.

I'm sort of floating in unused/untried gear at the moment, and I need to catch my breath. I'll reach out when my I get my head above water -- and if it's still around -- let's talk. Thanks again, Fred

Let me know when you are ready to try one. It will be here for you. If I had known, I could have slipped it in with your handle.

I've been looking for one for a while, aswell a toying with the idea of making one, although I seem to have an allergy to tools 🙃😜...I even cut a chamois to the right width....That worked great for drying a carbon blade after a : shave-rinse-alcohol-swish-and run the chamois-for a few strops...But the chamois wouldn't last but for a few times😏
I am veddy veddy happy about Sir Jay and you cats hooking me up....My A1 is one of the loves of my life.😍🤩

The Strop has made the scene! This thing looks like new....I veddy veddy happy! My Thank yous go out to Sir Jay and to Fred for his blessings! Any advice on how to keep this in this great condition? All I've don't is a simple wipe down with Dr.Martins Wonder Balsam Balm...Then 7 strops to my current blade... Now time for a shave...🙃

This was shave 11 with this blade, and I do believe they are getting better. This VB1 is an excellent razor, too.

Does it work as well-better as the leather? It seems to work very well. I have a leather one that I may use soon. I read a 3in1 oil ad that said to use it on your strop. I may try that with my AS strop. It is pretty dry. This blade is getting better each day.

I might switch to that on the next blade. I’m coming up on 20 and while the shaves are still good I’m noticing a slight decline 😒

I just got one of the rubbery ones from Sir Jay. I applied some Dr.Martens Wonder Balsam, and it feels like new. I was going to order some nos valet blades. But right now, I'm infatuated with trying this strop on my A1 with current blades. This has been a polorizing topic. In fact Fuzzy just said he just ruin a new CS Treet Super trying to strop it. Yo Fuzzy...what type of strop were you using? I read a while ago where someone was getting great results stropping new carbon steel blades...Soooo, I want to try. This morning, new GEM Blue Star, 17 Strops before, Great shave, 2 passes, no time for Fuzzy's WH clean up pass, which I always do, but I was already shiny smooth. So day 1: 17 strops before, 17 strops after. Shave was 5 Stars How msny strops would you guys do before and after, if you were me?

I am doing 40 strops before and after. It doesn't take long, and I really believe that my blade is improving daily.

I count 1 being from me to the far end of the strop and back...So 1 strop is actually 1 strop on each side of the blade. Are you counting the same way? I ask because, I'm thinking of following your lead so we can have similarity to our testing. And since you seem to be getting some positive results....👍
