Razorock Hawk V2 Feather Pro blade Omega Boar Brush Williams Mug Soap Duke Cannon Balm Changed up the brush today to let the horse hair dry fully. So I think the main difference with the Feather vs the Kai blades for me at least is the Feather breaks in after a couple of shaves and is a little (very little) mellower. The Kai seemed the same on every shave. I also tried a cold water shave. I liked it, but it didn't seem to make any difference to me in the outcome of the shave. For those of you that use cold water, do you do all your preshave pre with cold water. I shower before I shave, so get plenty of warm water in the shower on my face. I'm wondering if I tried a few shaves before the shower comparing all warm to all cold prep if the shaves would be the same.

I'm wondering if I tried a few shaves before the shower comparing all warm to all cold prep if the shaves would be the same. I switched to cold-water only shaves several months ago, and I haven't missed the warm water at all. I may be getting close to TMI-territory here, but I stopped my pre-shave shower and moved to a post-shave shower. I had read and heard a lot about making sure my face was well-hydrated and totally clean prior to shaving, and so that's what I did. But I was still having sporadic irritation problems (undoubtedly all technique related), so I started trying different things. Where I ended up was (before a shower) just rinsing my face with cold water, then start my face lather and shave. After the shave, I jump into the shower (warm-hot water) and complete my cleaning regimen. After I'm out of the shower I put on after shave. I will splash cold-water on my face post-shave if I'm using a menthol after shave....just to heighten the effect. Works for me, and no disrespect to those who have a different process -- whatever works for you. I will say that cold water shaves are apparently like nails-on-a-chalkboard to some in the shaving community, and they only grudgingly accept our "unorthodox" lifestyle... For me, the cold water just feels good all the way through the shave: in the beginning, it's bracing and helps wake me up; and at the end of the shave, it feels soothing after drawing a piece of steel across my skin. I also find menthol and other products have more "feel and effect" with cold water than with warm. Hope this is somewhat helpful and you will most certainly be welcome in the Cold-Water-Shavers-Club!!!

I use these as my pre shave oil, HA! Yep, if I washed my face, all those oils would go away. So, I too just wet my face with cold water and then face lather also using cold water. I don't think I have used hot water for a shave in over four years now. I have no plans to start using it in the future.

The only thing bad about a cold water shave is the lack of warm water. It's ok though...I still like you.

Neat box. Well, I used to have hair like the fella on the box. Key phrase "used to". I think Fuzzy called them tablets in a video of his. Is he really much older than he lets on

Day 23 is in the books. Razorock Hawk V2 Feather Pro blade Cremo Horse Hair Brush Williams Mug Soap Nivea Deep Loving many many different types of music a song that fits my situation comes to mind. I'm wanting to wonder, but am staying true. Rather like Meatloaf in the final refrains of Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. I swore, that I would love you to the end of time So now I'm praying for the end of time To hurry up and arrive 'Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you I don't think that I can really survive I'll never break my promise or forget my vow But God only knows what I can do right now I'm praying for the end of time It's all that I can do Praying for the end of time, so I can end my time with you

Day 24 I shall overcome. Nice shave today, but still getting a little irritation from the razor. I'm still on the Feather blade, haven't gone back to Kai. The Lucky Tiger is certainly a short lived scent. I think when the bottle is gone, it's not going to be restocked.

Vis-a-vis prep for a shave...... I am convinced, the longer I do this that at least 80% of the shave is in our heads. Once we learn technique, and when to leave well enough alone and not over do it, most times it all works out. I've shaved with no prep, hot water, cold water, hard water, soft water, even distilled water Guess what, it ain't rocket science, it's just shaving. I jest, but only a little. I applaud you for sticking to the month of Williams. Have you noticed anything different from when you first started?

I applaud you for sticking to the month of Williams. Have you noticed anything different from when you first started? I get dissapating lather more often than not. I still haven't cracked the code of persistance. It always gives me a good shave, and I don't know why the dissapating bothers me, but it does. The other thing I've noticed is that I think that I think the soap and the prep isn't as important as getting to know your razor inside and out. My shaves with the Hawk have definitely improved. I know how much I can get away with without getting bit. I am going to try the Schick Proline blades at some point. If anyone is up for a little exchange, I can send you a couple Kai or Feather or both for a couple Proline blades. To an extent I think I'm poorer for being richer. Meaning that if I truly only had one razor to use, I'd probably be getting the best shaves ever. I would know that razor inside and out and know exactly what was required when the lather is this way or that way and so on. So I'm poorer because I own more than one razor and I spread my time amongst them. After the Williams month, I'm going to go wild on software, but think that I will commit to something for a period of 30 days. Currently that is face lathering. I don't know that I'll commit to a month with any one razor, but I will try to do week long rotations rather than daily. I will also say I like this forum, because it's smalller and not so much a forum of excess as some are. I hope that makes sense.

Gentlemen! Williams Month is over for me. I will keep using Williams as it is now a staple item for me. Williams Month for me will always be June from now on. I also have some Mitchel's Wool Fat coming soon to me. Looking forward to using some. My next Williams shave will also be my first Schick Injector shave.
