Menthol Monday's ShaveThe AutoStrop Challenge ContinuesCold Water Rinse C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream Jayaruh #371 Badger/Boar Valet VB2 Valet AutoStrop (16) CWR Osage Rub This week I move to my Valet VB2 razor. This was the 16th shave with this Valet blade. My prep was just a cold water rinse. The C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream face lathered well with the Jayaruh #371 Badger/Boar brush. I did two passes with the Valet VB2 razor with a Valet AutoStrop SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Excellent shave with Jayaruh #357. Lovelly piece of craftsmanship. Produces a great lather. Morning TOST lather reminded me of Ogallalas soap lather. Just loosing a bit of slickness in comparison. Still a great shaving soap.

July 1st -- Daily-Double Lather Catchers on a Menthol GEMondayDecided it should be a GEMonday, but I didn't want to put away my Eagle Improved, so I used both. The first pass went to the Eagle and I was left with a socially-acceptable-shave after a single pass. The Gem Junior Bar stepped in for the 2nd pass and the shave was over -- completely smooth. But I didn't want it to end, so I did a 3rd pass with the Gem, and then a witch hazel touch-up on a couple of spots with the Eagle. So I turned a 2-pass shave into a 3-pass+touch-up, just because I didn't want the shave to be over!!! Luckily, both razors are smooth shavers and my face was just extra-smooth, and not a single bleeder or hint of irritation. Both razors are smooth shavers, but the GEM wins on the smoothness scale (to me at least), but the Eagle feels a bit more efficient -- both are a pleasure to shave with, and it was a very good day in the shave den! Eagle Improved with GEM SS PTFE (3) | GEM Junior Bar with GEM SS PTFE (2) Cella | Yaqi 24mm Mew Brown Synth | Krampert's Finest Frostbite

Mon 1st July Cyril Salter / Maseto ED. 2band Arko -grated Schick "O" Clone Schick Twin-Japan [ 3 ] Massimo Dutti A/S Lotion A good choice of Razor as suffering a touch of sunburn, as sitting on the Finish line while officiating. The Shave was Smooth and forgiving, and as always with the "O" Clone a nice close all round finish was delivered with no problems post Shave.

Tuesday 2nd July Alpha 'Outlaw' - Reef Point 'Test Depth' - GEM Damaskeene - GEM SSC #8 - Alum - Brut 'Sport Style' A/S - Dove Nourishing Cream Well, that was very nice. The Damaskeene is so nimble to whip round the face. What a great razor this is.

The Holy Black | Ruby Red Creeper RazoRock 400 | Noir Plissoft Durham-Enders | Enders Speed Shaver | Schick Proline B-20 Very colorful. Also very interesting. Thank you. While I'm not new to The Holy Black products, this is my first "Creeper". The "Koolada" (menthyl methyl lactate) is an interesting, refreshing protracted coolness that performs as advertised. The chill gradually builds for about 20 minutes and then persists another 20 minutes or so before fading. It truly feels cold as opposed to being bracing or minty. There's no eye watering vapor and it doesn't color the fragrance, yet the cooling effect is every bit as effective as menthol. May be a gimmick, but I'm sold.
