July 3rd -- first use of a recently acquired Schick Type L1 with a Japanese twin blade. It was a good shave....milder than I was expecting. I think I had built up the shave in my head to be like the twin blade unmentionable I had learned on in my youth; and while it was a good shave (very close and comfortable), it just didn't wow me like I thought it would. Some things that made it feel a little off were a longer than I've been using handle, and a steeper angle required than I typically need for older Schicks. But hey, it was a first shave with a new razor and blade, and the results were better than I'm sure I got as a youngster, so I'm not sure why I'm even grousing. Schick Type L1 | Japanese Twin Blade Injector (1) | RazoRock Plissoft 24mm | Geo. F. Trumper's Lime | Krampert's Finest Bay Rum I need to try the Twin blades at some point. Currently I have some of the Chick's and a NOS Schick that is really nice. For the single blades I think I'll keep trying to find NOS or use the Pella/Personna. I liked them better than the Chicks. Maybe the Twin blade will change my plans. We'll see.

Thursday 4th July Burma Shave Boar - Burma Shave Soap - Ever Ready 1912 - GEM SSC #9 - Alum - Electrif's Bay Rum v1 - Dove Nourishing Cream My way of celebrating Independence Day. Have a good one my friends across the pond. I really like that mug. The razor is beautiful as well. Thank you. The brass ER is a real treasure of mine. The Burma Shave mug, soap and brush were part of last year's Xmas PIF which I was lucky to win.

Thur 4th July. RazoRock Plissoft 22mm Cyril Salter Solid soap Schick I1 Schick Twin - Japan [ 8 ] Pitralon Polar A/S Lotion Happy Independence Day A lot of my Shaves with Twin Blades are in long handled Razors, which I know are not popular with some. A great alternative is the compact Schick I1 which delivers a smooth and comfortable Shave, with a great finish.

Friday's ShaveCold Water Rinse Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap Jayaruh #371 Badger/Boar Valet VB2 Valet AutoStrop (20) CWR Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #371 Badger/Boar brush. I did two passes with the Valet VB2 razor with a Valet AutoStrop SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

July 5th -- 2nd shave with my Schick L1 sporting a Japanese Twin blade (2) with the Green Mountain Soap (Lime Vetiver) and Yaqi 26mm Faux Horse in a rainbow handle -- sorry, no pic today.
As usual, the second time using brand new equipment was better than the first (go figure). I was mindful of the Schick-shallow-angle and inadvertently "caught the baby" after 2 passes and a spot-touch-up. This was an extraordinarily comfortable shave, and I find myself continuing to touch my face and marvel at how smooth it is!!! I'll finish with a healthy splash of Krampert's Finest Frostbite, just before I head out into the heat!!!

Continue down the path.

Fri 5th July Simpson Chubby 1 / Maggards 2band Vitos Super Red PAL Injecto Matic Schick Proline [ 6 ] Alcolado Glacial A/S Lotion After using Razors with Twin Blades I moved on to a Single Blade Favourite. The Injecto Matic really is good if you take the time to know it. A lovely smooth Shave with a good close all round finish being attained. Though I find this brush on the small side it worked well with the Vitos, a great lather and yet the handle was not made slippery.

Saturday 6th July Yaqi Aluminium Tux - De Vergulde Hand - GEM Micromatic Clog Pruf - GEM SSC #10 - Alum - Superdrug Forest Fresh A/S - Malibu Aloe Vera Moisturising Gel Haven't used the DVH for a while. What a lovely soap it is. I usually use a body Moisturising cream for one of my post shave routines, but have now discovered this Aloe Vera aftersun gel which is excellent. It has little fragrance so doesn't impact on other scents, plus gives great post shave face feel.
