A guy across the street made the comment that a Rolls does not have a safety bar. It is just a kickstand to protect the blade. There were several ads posted pointing out the safety bar. What say the SE guys? Guard or no? For the record I say it is a guard bar.

I say it is a kick stand. It doubles as a safety bar, but it is not meant to contact the skin. It does not operate in the same way what we call safety bars on other razors operate. I feel like I just typed a bunch of words in a string. I hope they mean something to you.

The safety bar on the gem razors isn't for skin contact either. Its to keep you from bouncing the blade against yourself and opening the skin wide up. But when you use most gems they are parallel to the skin with the guard opposite of the skin on the other side of the blade. I say its original purpose was for skin protection.

Not a razor with a blade protector. By definition a safety razor must have a comb or bar to protect skin. Not blade.

They do say "The Blade Guard". Has anyone seen anything that advertises otherwise? If not, Ill go with blade guard. Advertising trumps opinion.

I found a few ads that didn't mention the bar at all, that's the only one that I saw that labelled it.

They call it a "safety razor" which would seem to imply that it has a safety guard.

I never considered it to be a safety razor. I still don't despite their claims. Just because they write copy to make it like other razors doesn't make it so. But that's just my opinion and opinions are like anal sphincters, everyone has one.
