Cold Water Rinse C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream Jayaruh #340 Badger C.V. Heljestrand Heljestrand wedge CWR Osage Rub My prep was just a cold water rinse. The C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream face lathered well with the Jayaruh #340 Badger Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the C.V. Heljestrand razor with a Heljestrand wedge blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

21 October 2019 -- Okay, let's try this again. I had typed out a "War and Peace" length review of how great this shave was and in particular how much I love my new JR #373 boar brush, but then my hand hit a button and I lost it all. So here's the abbreviated version....great shave with a new to me "NEW GEM". It's got a beautiful handle and came in a great case with wedge blades, but it also had a broken swing bar. The upside is it has great blade stops and a strong back clip, so it takes a modern GEM blade without complaint. As to my new brush, it's a definite winner. I love the knot (really taken with boars these days) and the handle is both comfortable and beautiful. The JR #373 is now my favorite boar brush and my JR #270 is my favorite synth. Here's the pic: P.S., thank you Jim ( jayaruh) for setting this thread up.

Tue 22nd Oct. Omega 11137boar L`Occitane Cade cream TNNSER 3D Gem S/S [ 6 ] Puig Quorum A/S Lotion Now on my 6th consecutive Shave with the TNNSER.Despite the blade being on its 6th outing I had a trouble free Shave, in fact the Razor/Blade combo worked well with the L`Occitane cream. The TNNSER is very easy to keep clean as it is easily rinsed during and after a Shave to get rid of soap build up on the blade.I could quite easily use the TNNSER as a Daily Shaver as it delivers trouble free top quality Shaves every time.

A nice Williams Wednesday Shave Razor: The TNNSER - delivered again, though I think after only three shaves my blade is starting to dull. It may be the great range of effective angles that this razor allows means I'm picking some that aren't optimal for the blade life. Oh well, I'm after shave quality more than blade longevity. Tomorrow I will switch in a Gem PTFE. I've only used the regular carbon and stainless, so will be interesting to try a PFTF Brush: My Jayarah Synthetic. I have no idea what the knot is, but I like it and I'm known to be a picky, prissy person when it comes to synthetics. It's got good backbone, but doesn't catapult lather everywhere if you come off a corner of your face. Soap: Willaims Mug Shaving Soap A/S: Figured, I might as well stick to another Williams product so Aqua Velva was the obvious choice as it was once made by Williams.

Phoenix Shaving | Monstroso APShaveCo. Elegant Emerald | SynBad 24mm Durham-Enders | Enders Speed Shaver | Schick Proline B-20 Last week I received this Monstroso set as a surprise gift from the very kind folks at Phoenix Shaving. I don't make a habit of accepting gifts from artisans, and in fact, I usually insist on purchasing it. It was made clear that in this particular case this was nothing more than a gift, and to do anything other than to graciously accept it would be an insult. It goes without saying that there was never a directive, implied or otherwise, for me to review the product. In fact, typically the sure-fire way to ensure I do not review a product is to give it to me free of charge. I've yet to have my integrity questioned vis-à-vis honest reviews, and I attribute that not only to my conduct, but also this policy. That said, I do find it difficult to keep my mouth shut when I encounter a product that I enjoy as much as this one. So, consider the following an unsolicited fragrance impression. The proprietor was aware of my enthusiasm for all things vetiver, so he was confident I would like this. It is true that I'm keen on vetiver, be it the light and grassy variety all the way to the dark and smoky. When used wisely, they all have their charm. In the case of Monstroso, it's twisted. I wore the splash for several days prior to using the soap as per my usual behavior when exploring a new matched set. After having used the splash several times and the soap twice, I can confidently say that the two mediums reveal the fragrance very similarly. Monstroso opens with a distinct and bold freshly turned damp earth that is devoid of smoke and slightly grassy. From there, things get weird. In my experience, vetiver will either elbow its way in and dominate an accord, or insidiously transform or even adulterate accompanying notes. In the case of Monstroso, the initial somewhat brutish earthy introduction mysteriously cascades to a peculiar vegetation-type musk with something vaguely nectarous approaching plum before succumbing to something strangely and pungently fauna in nature. This, folks, is what vetiver does to apricot. It's altered such that it's familiar yet unrecognizable at the same time. While this pleasantly bizarre fragrance hovers about, a rich bittersweet blood orange encroaches. This is completely out of the usual order, but yes, the citrus enters late. The splash has the usual PAA strength and longevity, so after a couple hours, this waxing and waning aberrancy of a fragrance settles to an innocuous earthiness that lingers before becoming lost at around 5 hours. Monstroso does not follow the rules, and with all due respect to the artisan, there's bold and then there's irresponsible. A gamble was taken in this construct. I think most vetiver-heads will ultimately enjoy this, but there will be plenty that hate it--particularly those that aren't willing to invest the time to understand it. Not unlike The Monster that influenced the fragrance.

Cold Water Rinse Williams Mug Shaving Soap Jayaruh #340 Badger GEM OC Damaskeene CVS CS SE CWR Florida Water My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #340 Badger Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the GEM OC Damaskeene razor with a CVS CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Florida Water. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... I shaved today before I went to the doc about my knee. I decided to use my OC Damaskeene to remove my goatee and stache. They were becoming a nuisance.
