Thursday's ShaveCold Water Rinse Fine Snakebite Shave Soap Jayaruh #30RS TNNSER 3D Green/Black CVS CS SE CWR Lucky Tiger AS My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Fine Snakebite Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #30RS Badger Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the TNNSER 3D Green/Black razor with a CVS CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

31/10/2019 Pre: A nice hot shower Brush: Alpha Titanium Outlaw G4 Soap: Arran Machrie Razor: Colonial General SS V2 Blade: Feather PB (12) Post shave: Alum Block, cold water splash, Homemade Witch Hazel Balm: Bart's Balm Amber and Moroccan Jasmine Lotion & Arran Machrie Balm Aftershave: Arran Machrie Pretty much the same set up as yesterday only changing the brush. Another great lather from the Arran soap, today, a nice hot shower while the soap bloomed. The Blade is most definitely on its way out and 3 passes required for my normal face feeler finish. I could have give it another run out, but Hey!, 12 shaves from 1 blade is pretty awesome, even for me. No need to push my luck. The General V2 performed impeccably, its just so easy to use. The post shave routine gave some indication from the block, after the rinse i calmed everything down with a face massage with the Barts Balm lotion, i let it sink in while i cleaned the tools. a good dollop of Balm finishing with a splash of the Machrie aftershave, all very nice. Have a great evening All

Had a great 2 pass and light touch up shave with the Gem Jr. Bar today. This is one of my favorite razors. And the Mer Shavings Mysore Sandalwood does not disappoint. I don't use synthetic brushes often but the Razorock Bruce is a nice brush. I just prefer Badger or Boar.

Thursday OCtober 31 I spent the last few evenings honing 8 wedge blades and my hope was that one or a couple/few I honed properly. I varied my technique slightly for each blade thinking I can adopt the technique used for which ever blade is honed best - assuming at least one is honed well. For today's shave, I used 3 of those wedges in 3 lather catchers for my shave and to test how I did honing. Bowl/Scuttle - GP12 Soap - La Savonniere du Moulin Brush - Simpson 400-3 Blade1 - Kampfe Bros Star Razor1 - Kampfe Bros Star lather catcher US Pat 6/15/80, Eng Pat 3/8/87 Blade2 - M-K Heljestrand Razor2 - Kindal Heljestrand lather catcher Blade3 - Heljestrand Razor3 - CV Heljestrand lather catcher Post Shave - OSMA Pierre alum, Epsilon Blue A/S Shave rating 5 of 5 Before anyone gets in a tizzy, all 3 are lather catchers but all 3 are also OC for OCtober. I started with the Kampfe with Kampfe blade WTG on one cheek by my ear. The blade was cutting but could have cut better. I switched to the Kindal with MK blade when I started on my other cheek. This blade felt a little sharper than the Kampfe. When I got to my neck and chin and mouth area, I switched to the other Heljestrand with the regular Heljestrand blade. Wow, this wedge was sharp and cut smoothly. I actually honed one blade so far well. Anyway, I finished up the first pass and did the 2nd pass XTG with the Heljestrand with regular Heljestrand blade. 2 passes, overall DFS+ with my cheeks down to my jawline BBS. It would be an understatement to say I'm happy. I just need to see how I did with the other wedges (I have 5 more to test). At worst, I can follow the honing technique I used for this Heljestrand blade for the rest of my un-honed blades. I finished off with the Epsilon Blue A/S. Overall, an excellent shave. Now on to NOvember. Happy shaves to everyone.

Phoenix & Beau | Specialist Cadman-Beau | Synthetic Ever-Ready SE | Gem PTFE Ah, Specialist. I've literally been waiting a year for this to come to fruition. Having been a fan of Phoenix & Beau's soaps for a while, now, Specialist has to be my most anticipated flavor. Last November, included with my Cadman-Beau brush shipment was a surprise sneak peak at this unique fragrance. From there began my personal campaign---also known as nagging---to get Specialist stateside. This is an intoxicating fragrance to say the least. The remnant of my sample resides on my dresser, and I take a hit a least a couple times per week. The documented notes are vanilla, vetiver, malt whiskey, hops, barley, and tobacco leaf. I know, I said unique, but that line-up isn't particularly foreign to the wet shaving artisan world, yet the sum of the parts is something I have never had in my den. One might expect this to be a rather boozy accord, and there wouldn't be a thing wrong with that, but it doesn't entirely invest in that direction. Specialist certainly opens with a sweet vanilla cognac that's immediately reigned in by a deep smoky musk and earth. The barley and hops are distinctly present, but instead of imparting beer, they lean into the vetiver resulting in a more vegetation and grain iteration. Meanwhile, the musky vanilla and cognac crescendo to something akin to patchouli, but with a modicum of sophistication. Patchouli isn't a documented note, but I can't deny it's influence. As beautiful as this opening and mid are, I probably enjoy the dry down the most. The vanilla becomes more malty and creamy and continues its dance with the smoky vegetation and toasted grain, but this moderates and allows the rich fresh green tobacco to drift in. Specialist is brazen, but it's not offensive. That said, it probably lends more to a casual or date night fragrance as opposed to stifling professional occasions. This was worth the wait, and I'm so grateful to West Coast Shaving and Phoenix & Beau for working out a way for the US to have access not only to these wonderfully performing soaps, but also the paired alcohol-based splashes. DISCLOSURE: I purchased this Phoenix & Beau Specialist soap and splash set for retail price directly from West Coast Shaving. I received no gifts or other incentives in exchange for my comments. No doubt. You have some of the best sotd pics around world. Congrats.

Thursday Shave Razor: TASER (Toms Adjustable Single Edge Razor) thanks for the name riverrunBlade: Gem CS (3) Brush: JR 157 Soap: Derby AS: VIBR I had 3 days worth to deal with tonight. First pass I had it wide open. You can definitely feel the blade. Even so I never really felt any danger of being cut. Second pass was half open. Very nice feel not mild at all. Third pass closed all the way. Definitely mild feeling but efficient. Overall I am pretty happy with the results. Have a safe and happy Friday. Tom

Thur 31st Oct. A rather busy day yesterday as out for most of it. However I did manage to get a decent Shave.I used the Proguard in an ATT SE1 for the first time, extremely comfortable with a great close finish. This blade really suits me so have ordered some from Japan, with shipping to UK works out just under £9 per pack .
