Gem Junior Gem Stainless PTFE 2 Semogue BC Mistura Stirling Electric Sheep
First shave with a 1912 pattern razor in long enough that I don't remember using one but pretty sure I had one in my collection at some point. Overall it was an alright shave for the first time picking up this razor. It felt pretty mild, but fairly efficient. The S to N pass was a little awkward but to be expected first time using a razor. If I finished with this result from a micromatic, I would give the shave a C, but for a first time out B+. I don't see this being a favorite yet, but it definitely has potential to be a good shaver.

Today's Thanksgiving day Daily Double shave. Henkels Rapide with 4th use Gem by Ted Pella. Mer Shavings Fougere orange on my recently finished Boar brush lathered well. An unmentionable was tugging a little bit on the first pass but the Henkels finished that up wonderfully and I enjoyed most of the second pass with the unmentionable. Then my wife cleaned up the back of my neck with the Henkels. All in all a very enjoyable shave.

Thursday's ShaveCold Water Rinse GZD Berber Stick JR #255 Transparent TNNSER CVS CS SE CWR Aqua Velva 5 in 1 After Shave My prep was just a cold water rinse. The GZD Berber Stick Shave Soap face lathered well with the JR #255 Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Transparent TNNSER razor with a CVS CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The grip wasn't bad, just awkward with a new tool.

Keep practising, there's nothing wrong with a 1912, you just have to find the right angle. The Micromatics emphasized putting the razor cap flat against your face which is also a good idea to start with on older GEM/ER models until you're comfortable with that razor, but the instructions for the older models suggested using a slightly steeper angle.

Thur 28th Nov. Stirling Syn.30mm Stirling Baker Street Alu.Hawk/Ikon handle Feather Pro [ 1 ] Tuff Green A/S Lotion Used a Feather Pro blade rather than the usual Schick Proline. The Shave and finish was very good, marred by my lack of care and attention as I got a weeper on the Chin, the Proline is more forgiving of operator error.

Those are a favorite razor of a lot of people here. Give it time. I am also curious which handle it has. My favorite is one in bakelite. Well my favorite stock. I have a couple of handles turned by 9nein9 that are favorites.

Outstanding shave today. The Schick B1 is always a favorite. For good reasons. I am really starting to enjoy the Clubman Shave Lather too. If you add in the handle turned my 9nein9 and the Coachman life is good indeed.

Is the backbone holding up or is it splaying down to the handle? Veddy nice shave btw!
