Thursday's ShaveCold Water Rinse GZD Berber Stick JR #255 Transparent TNNSER CVS CS SE CWR Aqua Velva 5 in 1 After Shave My prep was just a cold water rinse. The GZD Berber Stick Shave Soap face lathered well with the JR #255 Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Transparent TNNSER razor with a CVS CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... How do you rate the GZD against the other Turkish sticks?

I settled for use of the Occams which always delivers a very good and trouble free shave.Took another easy option using the Vitos, which produces a nice rich lather which is very Shave enabling.Job done ! Saturday 30th November Real Shaving Facial Scrub P&B Baskerville Shaving Soap Vulfix Small Synthetic Brush TNNSER 3D with a Gem SS Blade Thayers Witch Hazel with Cucumber Macadamia Oil Pashana Original AS A tale of 2 shaves today. For the first time ever....I could not get a P&B Soap to lather. All the lather just disappeared and I might as well have been using a fragranced shaving oil. The soap itself is about a year old and hasn't seen much use as I had some Stirling Texas on Fire (which to me smells similar) on the go. I even tried a badger and badger/boar mix with the same results. The surface of the soap looked a little glossy and I did have a little bit of a skin reaction......so perhaps it has not reacted kindly to the passage of time. The end result was a perfect finish....just no feel good factor

1st shave in my thirties. Prorasso boar brush by Omega, Indian old spice cream, gem blue star blade, kampfe star razor and American old spice aftershave. The Indian old spice was very slick and lathered well. Some have said it doesn't smell like old spice I think it does. Almost no blood fantastic aftershave feel and bbs. BTW gem blue stars always give a fantastic shave sorry fuzzy but I disagree that a blade is a blade. I've used more than a dozen blades and carbon steel blades particularly the gems have a unique smoothness and always give less irritation and cuts regardless of cream. Could be that stainless blades are actually serrated at a microscopic level.

Stainless has carbides in it typically which will not allow for as fine of an edge. (this is in a general sense with wood working tools). But many stainless shaving blades are coated with teflon, or other things that allow for a smoother shave. Of the GEMS, I agree the carbon blades are the smoothest.

I find the GEM SS blades to be just as smooth as the carbons, and the carbons don't rust anywhere near what I expected. Birthday?

Saturday ShaveA fine shave today, as most are. [ modesty, is another of my fine qualities ]Razor - Gem Junior with stainless blade Brush - Simpson Classic Badger Soap - Baume.be puck AS - Reuzel If you've read about Baume.be soaps and creams before you'll have read that the cream lathers much better than the hard soap. I would agree with that. The soap itself reminds me of a Williams caliber shave, but the soap is a bit gentler on the face than Williams is. The lather is thin and tends to dissipate, but is slick which in my mind is sufficient repentance for the lack of lather.

ER 24 Travel Razor Gem Stainless PTFE Semogue BC Mistura CO Bigelow SC Dr. Sana Bay Rum
First shave with the 24 and it was a good one. I am not a fan of the stubby handle, but I had about as good of a shave as I could have first time out with a razor. A longer handle and some practice will make this a favorite.

And as to blood it's all part of shaving I rarely have more than the slightest of drops. And it's typically when I use a non carbon steel blade or a new razor. Skin can be dry and or inflamed and be more easily cut. The blade does damage due to abrasion to the skin even in the best of shaves.

Blood can come even with no Nick's or irritation. There are full bleeders with no cuts which are a mark of bad technique and there are literally little dots of blood that can show up and immediately go away. At least for me on occasion I've had many many fantastic bloodless shaves.

My razors and blades leave me completely unscathed, even with SS blades.
Happy birthday.
