I picked up a 1924 recently and really enjoy the shave. Unfortunately, I am quickly souring on it as the edge of the blade sticks out behind the stops. I have nicked myself on a regular basis using this razor from the corner of the blade. Is this an issue with the razor using modern blades, adjusting my technique, or possibly something out of whack with my particular example? Here it is on a BRW Improved handle using a grub screw as adapter. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Never had that happen, what blades are you using?
Did you have that problem with the correct handle on it?

I am using Gem stainless PTFE purchased form Connaught in the 100 pack. Yes I was having the issue regardless of handle used. I have used it with a 1912 handle, the original travel sized handle, and this one as well.

Here's one I replaced a stop on, the blade doesn't stick out I don't think.

I'm not sure what you mean by the blade sticking out behind the stops but sometimes you see one where the blade isn't being pushed under the stops tightly. Those two little wings on the underside of the cap that are part of the brass clasp can be adjusted to push against the spine of the blade more. Just take a small flat bladed screw driver and bend those wings out forward bit. It's a very simple razor design which I like because there's not much that can go wrong mechanically.

Thanks. Looking at my a bit more closely, the blade is lifted just a smidge on that side. I will need to spend some more time looking at it to see if I can improve it.

He is talking about the sharp corners extending outward beyond the stop and injuring the shaver.

I have never seen that happen. I hope you get it sorted out. That is not my favorite razor but still a good shaving one.

May have a bur that needs fixing, or a cut on the inside of the stop that the blade is going into that holds the blade above the bed.

Thanks for the input. I tuned the spring under the cap a bit. The blade looks like it was slightly off center with maybe a sixteenth of an inch sticking out behind the right blade stop. I also took some dental floss and cleaned the blade stops out in case there was any crud in there. I will give a shot again tomorrow. Again thanks for the input.

Click-em to make-em bigger. Stop on the left is gone. I cut and shaped a sliver of yellow brass. Did a simple scarf joint. The piece was pre-bent and left a little long to shape afterwards, and soldered in place. This is the almost final product, just needed a little cleanup after this.
