You can read all about it here. I got this Russian unmentionable in the TSD Raffle last year. After seeing the I Made A Razor thread, I was inspired to do it myself. The Russian razor was very similar to the American unmentionable from the 20s. Here is what it looks like. Because the original razor had some plate loss on the top cap, I ended up removing the plating from it. Now it is just brass on top. Here it is with a blade. It will take other handles, too, as the threads are the same as most unmentionables.

You guys are gonna start a fad. Wetshavers all over will be recycling their crap razors to new SE's. Very cool.

I decided to give it a try today, so, I used the SHaDE on the right side of my face and used the Schick C on the left. I was very impressed with the way the SHaDE handled. It had a Personna half blade in it, and it easily took care of the right side. Overall, it was an excellent shave with no nicks, cuts, or abrasions. I love open comb razors, and this one is a keeper.

I was going to do this with a unmentionable. Looks fun!! Glad you made it happen. Now we see there really is a reason for unmentionables!!!

Neat job!
I must say, I often wondered what the point of those half DE single edge razors were as surely it was the same process of making a double edge but then altering the mould, or whatever, down to 2/3. I always thought it must be easier just to take a double edge and grind one half off.
... and here we are.
Indeed! Something quick and easy to do with double edge razors that have damaged or missing teeth on one side.
