Had three new European soaps arrive today. There's a company selling de vergulde hand Dutch shave soap in the us now. So I used that soap, my scuttle warmed, crown king synthetic brush, shovel head razor, 3rd use gem blue star and king r emporium aftershave. Had a nice warm shave. Three passes. One against the grain. Bbs no irritation had a couple tiny blood spots that closed themselves. The soap seemed thirsty almost like Williams. www.flickr.com/photos/187068272@N03/49602616647/in/album-72157713309507941/

I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I had an excellent shave this morning. Things started off with a little Proraso white balm and a dab of Lubriderm. I was inspired by others to slow down and really concentrate on deliberately apply little to no pressure. I tend to get impatient with the stubborn spots and get heavy handed to try to overcame resistant hairs. Also rinsing with cold water between each pass as others have been mentioning. I whipped the lather up with hot water and a dab of coconut oil. The lather was drying out a bit on my neck because I was taking it extra slow, so I chilled the lather in the bowl with a splash of cold water mixed in then ran cold water on the outside of the metal bowl. This work very well. The lather stayed perfectly hydrated the rest of the shave. The Henckels Rapide was used for the bulk of the shave doing 3 passes on most of the shave and 4 in some areas. The Schick G was used on a cleanup of the toughest spots on my neck to catch a few stubborn stray hairs. The result was a nearly irritation free shave that was very close. Twelve hours later and I'm still smooth except for each side of the adams apple were I have the most troublesome hairs.

I like the first pass with any soap to be kind of a sticky almost too dry lather, but enough water to be slick, then on the second pass I wet it up. I don't ever really go for billowy, pillowy lather. I like the cold cream or clown paint type lather in general.

Today I used a shovel head, Geo f Trumper rose soap, crown king synthetic brush, gem blue star 4th use and rose witch hazel after shave. I had a hard time lathering the soap in distilled water. It seemed to lather better in tap water. I've never seen that before. www.flickr.com/photos/187068272@N03/albums/72157713324141106
