Been gone a while but am back. So what have I been doing? Well the condensed version is that I really only accomplished 3 things.
1. Perfected my meatball recipe and cook time. Combined a recipe from Betty Crocker and my brother. Yum, Yum. 2. Got my cornmeal recipes down pat. For out of the box cornbread I like Fleishman’s. When I have time I make it from scratch with a recipe I found and altered. For cold mush I use Fuzzy’s Mom’s recipe. For warm mush I use an old family polenta recipe.
3. Got cataract surgery done on both eyes. I got it completed the first week in January; talk about cutting it close. I was at a point where I could barely see to safely drive. Had I waited I would still be waiting due to current circumstances. What a difference! There’s a whole world out there I’ve been missing. For the first time in years I can read “Lift Here”.
Oh Yeah, I still don't like that Hagis stuff. Reminds me of a hot water bottle filled with the stuff you clean out of a stuck garbage disposal. Just my opinion, no digital pipe bombs please.

Haggis is a savoury pudding containing sheep's pluck (heart, liver, and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and cooked while traditionally encased in the animal's stomach.

And very nice it is too, especially if fresh from a traditional Highland Butchers. A lot of these "commercial" takes on it taste nothing like the real thing. I think the last good one i had i got in Oban in early 2005.

Tony, you mentioned you got one in Oban. I didn't know there was an actual town called Oban. I thought it was just the name of a brand of Scotch whiskey, which I really like. In the past when I felt like treating myself I would buy a bottle of Oban at Costco.

I must confess that I have never had Hagis. But I've been told that it tastes much better after having enjoyed liberal quantities of Scotch whiskey. Which leads me to the question of whether Scotch was invented to allow for the consumption of Hagis? Or was Scotch invented just for pleasure and Hagis enjoys the benefits of it's existence?

Hi Alan Oban is a beautiful small town/port on the West Coast of Scotland, with it's own Distillery for Oban whisky (no "E"). And yes the whole thing is edible. In one of the posher places up there they did Haggis on a Bed of Mashed potato covered in an Oban Whisky and cream sauce. I mean come on. T PS the one in TobyC picture would feed about 6-10 battle hardened warriors. Check it out out in this link

How long did you wait between eyes? Hey Lloyd, nice to be back. I waited about 3 weeks, it wasn't too bad. I let mine go way too long so even with the vision I had between the first and second surgery was 1000 times better than what I had before I had the first eye done. It wasn't driving after dark that bothered me, I was reaching a point where I wouldn't be able to see well enough to drive in the daytime. I had come to the conclusion that if I had to wait to get the first eye done I would stop driving. Luckily they got me right in before it got to that.

My wife had her cataract surgery done last year in both eyes. the doctor had to redo one of them because he put the wrong lens in.

Man...getting that eyesight back should be like a new lease on life. Welcome Back! Is that why you are back at TOST? With the return of your eyesight...you saw how many whiskers you had been missing!!🤣😄😅😁 Sometimes I'll go to shave with my glasses on, ehich I almost never do...And I'll see my ear and nose hair has gotten too bad, to be allowed out of the house, LMAO!! I had been wondering why women had been covering their children's faces saying, "Don't look dear, it will give you nightmares!" 😅😄🤣😜😂
