13/04/20 Pre: 1912 Scottish Heather Brush: Yaqi Rainbow 26mm Soap: 1912 Scottish Heather Razor: Mongoose SE B3 Blade: Feather PB (5) Post shave: Alum Block, cold water splash, Crisp & Clear EO Infused Witch Hazel Balm: Nivea Sensitive Balm Aftershave: CK Be Its been a while since i have used the Mongoose B3, and today was a reminder that it should be in the rotation more often. A wonderful lather again from the 1912, today's soap, the Scottish Heather has a nice delicate scent to my nose compared to the more Citrus notes of the Citrus Musk and Classic 24. All the same its very nice, lathers easily and works brilliantly like all of its siblings. The Mongoose is a real heavyweight, there's an Unmentionable nicknamed Thor's Hammer, the Mongoose could adopt the tag of Zeus's Sledgey as you could drive in fence posts with it! He is a big hunk of Stainless Steel and may not be as nimble as the newer Vector or General i have, however, the Shave it delivers is on par, for me anyway. 2 passes WTG & ATG with a little XTG buffing to finish off, Result, BBS again. All very Nice, Feeling and Smelling good Stay Safe and Enjoy your Day All

Horrid sotd I feel like my face met a meat grinder and came up the loser. Of my two TNNSER's this one is not my favorite. Not by a long shot. The other is very efficient, but won't bite. This one is efficient and bites for fun. The brush and soap were nice.

I forgot I had binned the blade after my last shave so this shave was with a fresh blade. The shave was efficient but a tad on the harsh side. Perhaps a featherweight would have been a better choice. But overall not a bad shave. I love all of the Mer Shaving soaps I have. I don't use the barber shop scent as often because it's a sample size and I always feel like it will run out to soon when I have a sample.

15/04/20 Pre: Sainsbury's/1912 Frankensoap, Bergamot, Nectarine & Citrus Musk Brush: Yaqi Silver Wolf Mysterious 24mm Soap: 1912 Irish Fern Razor: GEM MicroMatic Clog Pruf Blade: GEM PTFE S/S (4) Post shave: Alum Block, cold water splash, EO Infused Astringent Balm: Bart's Balm Bergamot and Vanilla Balm & Lotion Aftershave: CK One My Maiden shave with the MicroMatic Clog-Pruf which was kindly PIF'd to me by a very generous member from another forum i use. I have always fancied one, however, they are seldom seen up for grabs - anywhere. I used the Frankensoap pre-shave and its quite nice, hints of both soaps in the mix. A fantastic lather, very slick and creamy with a lovely sheen on it, painted over the pre shave layer, i had a great face covering for the shave. I really enjoy using these types of razors including the 1912 variations, they teach you about angle and pressure like no other, in fact, i think i get on with most new razors quickly because of the techniques learned by using these vintage ladies. The shave angle was found quickly, the razor letting me know its doing its job, using very light adjustments during the shave to find the best angle for me. 3 Passes WTG, XTG & ATG leaving me BBS, mind you i know its been a close shave and was expecting the Alum to sing, thankfully not too much and it calmed quickly. My normal post shave routine with the Barts Balm really settling things down. I am BBS, Feeling and Smelling Good. Stay Safe and enjoy your Day All.
