First techmatic shave! Used a new adjustable gillette five blade pack. Used the medium setting with speik soap, paa atomic rocket brush, witch hazel and cooling balm. Fantastic shave very smooth and comfortable. Looking at the razor the blade flexing or getting wavy is a myth. The head design prevents that by putting pressure on the band. Looking at the pack the blade did have a wave but the razor straightens it out. The blade was not dull or tuggy as some say. It was actually fairly sharp. Only critique is I prefer a bit closer so I put it on the next higher setting for tomorrow. www.flickr.com/photos/187068272@N03/49798361232/in/album-72157713971059817/

For today's GeMonday shave I was using a fresh Meijer branded Accu TEC SS blade. So I went with the Gem Featherweight Deluxe. This Is an excellent razor for new blade break in. And an excellent razor all around. I love the look and feel of the handle. The one thing I don't care for on the flpi top ASR razors is the firce in which the spring clicks forward to seat the blade. I started off with a hot shower and soak my Two band SHD Badger while I showered. I then lathered up some Arko wich a good friend gave me a sample of last year. Applied the lather to my neck and worked it in a little. Went to take first pass. And the lather on my neck was vanishing. I grabbed my brush and swirled it in the bowl to pick up some more lather and what had looked a minute ago like a full bowl of nice lather disintegrated completely. So I grabbed the Tabac another good friend gifted me and whipped up a beautiful rich lather and went about a shaving with no more issues. Results were a very enjoyable close comfortable shave.

2nd techmatic shave. I increased the aggression one notch this time. Closer shave still not as close as I prefer though. I'd say damn fine plus. Next time I'll go all the way to high. Good shave though. I used the techmatic, paa atomic rocket, local gents Anubis soap, witch hazel and obsession aftershave balm. www.flickr.com/photos/187068272@N03/49801446853/in/album-72157713982796716/

Sorry no pic this time. Today I mug lathered van der Hagen luxury, crown king synth brush, techmatic razor 3rd use most aggressive setting and paa unscented star jelly aftershave. With the highest setting I got a decent bbs. Gave my face a slight itch for just a minute until the aftershave and that's the worst of my experience with the techmatic. Good shave smooth.

Always been intrigued by the techmatic, Is it a 5 blade band? How many shaves per "blade" do people get? Can you still get the cartridge for them? Seen 1 advertised for £25 with spare cartridge but cannot justify that on a whim. T

They generally go for about ten dollars a cartridge. I've seen both ten and five packs for ten dollars. I just finished shave three on my first band in a five band cartridge and it was still sharp.

23/04/20 Pre: Sainsbury's / 1912 Frankensoap, Bergamot, Nectarine & Citrus Musk Brush: Yaqi Rainbow 26mm Soap: Stirling Soap co. Stirling Spice Razor: Blackland Sabre Blade: GEM PTFE S/S (6) Post shave: Cold water splash, EO infused Witch Hazel Balm: Homemade Bay Rum Argan oil, Gucci by Gucci Balm Aftershave: Electrif 's Bay Rum #1 A fine lather from the soap and brush combo giving enough for 4 passes easily, richly scented and slick. 3, no issue passes today for a BBS result. My Alum stone crumbled the other day, i think it lasted about 8 months from daily use. I have opened a new one, however, as i now rarely get anything from it i will only use it when i think i need it (i only have 4 unopened blocks left). The post shave was going to be traditional old spice, however, i remembered i had some of Electrif 's Bay Rum splash which he kindly gifted me a tester bottle , very nice it is too. Therefore today i used my Bay Rum Argan Oil and Arthur's splash, very nice. Feeling & Smelling real good. Stay safe and enjoy your day All
