RF, I like to maintain things. I buy them, maintain them, and my thought is that I'll have them much longer, and that's the way it is for most things. I oiled my razors in the past and have since reexamined that practice. It was discussed somewhere and the consensus was that razors in general were designed to be lubricated with water while it's in use. So that's what I also do.
The concensus also was that oil would get into the mechanism and if anything else (gunk) was in there it would just make for additional problems by mixing with the gunk.
I have one OCMM that after I soak it and oil it, the cover will not open unless I help it along. If I give it a month or so to "rest" it works as it should again. I repeated this twice and it was the same each time. So it's no more love for that particular razor, at least as far as cleaning and lubing it goes.
My advise is just use it and clean it periodically- other than that, just forget that it exists.

A long soak in soapy water made with dish soap has helped a couple of mine that were a bit sticky when opening and closing. I got this Flying Wing recently and it hasn't been used much at all judging by it's appearance. The tto was very stiff so I soaked it overnight and it made it a lot easier to open and close. I'm not a big fan of the Flying Wing, I used this one once just so I can say it was used but it's now been relegated to display status in my office.
Rollin like a big wheel, and cuttin like a big knife.
LOL! I'm glad Possum chimed in on this one. Always a ray of sunshine when it comes to one of the FINEST RAZORS EVER MADE.
I pick up a OCMMagic at an antique store every now and then to add to the draw that's already full of them. I just can't resist when I find a beauty for cheap. Anyway, if it's sticky I'll go the Mineral Oil soak over night. If it's not I follow the "ain't broke don't fix" mantra.
9nein9: To like or not to like the like button? That is the question. Our society thrives off the like button it seems . I'm not sure if I like it or I don't like it.Just kind of got used to it .

carlfrommo: Hey guys. Last minute question here. What shot size should I use for flying reindeer?

ordinaryshaver: You want to use 3 1/2 in magnum lead shot, in size T. Problem solved.

ordinaryshaver: No steel, too light and use an extra full choke, unless you have a good blind setup

carlfrommo: Well, last night was a failure. I had one shot, and I didn't lead the red-nosed one enough. I think I ended up shooting the driver. Might have gotten him in the leg. Hard to tell because he was wearing red pants and coat.

carlfrommo: He turned his sled away and landed on the roof two blocks down. Out of range for a second shot. I did notice he walked with a bit of a limp though. He shouldn't be coming in my yard anyway.

mrconklin: Last time I hunted waterfowl. 2 3/4 shells were standard and the cool kids were starting to play with the 3 inch, but most guns weren't made for them. Steel was also just starting to be mandated on Federal and State land.
