Way cool....
Somehow someway it always seems like it's the Ever Ready stuff that appeals to me for performance and looks.

Dittos, Cool!
The comparison you made with photos is exactly what was running through my mind.
Nice find!
Oh shoot! I just realized! There was a recall on them and I've been reluctantly put in charge of collecting them.
(Maybe someday that will work. Yeah, maybe on the same day that the coyote gets the roadrunner.)

Now I like that. You did a nice clean up on the case for sure. Hope it shaves well for you.

Kind of like a streamline case. Weird how it's grey, never seen a grey one.
It's a great razor though, I got a british made ER 1912 the same, though it came in a brown bakelite case. It's not the most aggressive, but pretty efficient and smooth. My favourite for results is still the CP MM, but with a new blade a touch dangerous, and when the blade is a little blunt it's too tuggy. So I start a new blade with a lather catcher for 1-2 shaves to take the edge of, then use the MM CP for 2-4 shaves until it gets tuggy, then get another 2-3 shaves from that british 1912. That's the best combo that worked for me, wouldn't last any longer in a 1912, and the first few shaves not so close anyway, so a waste of a new blade, the the LC and MM doesn't like a dull blade. But somehow the british 1912 is happy with a duller blade so it stretches the life out of a blade. Before I did this, the best I'd get was 4 shaves from a blade if I never changed the razor, and when going through options off what to use to extend the blade life, it was only that british 1912 that seems to work well with a duller blade compared to USA GEMs or 1914, 1924s etc for some reason. So I only use a LC, a MM CP and that british ER these days, and a single blade visits them in order to stretch the blade life out to 7 days.

Sleddog,
That is a beauty. What do you use to clean the bakelite case? Real nice!!
Bladerunner, that's an interesting approach to getting the most out of your blade life. I'm gonna give that a try. Anyone else do this?

I thought I mentioned this before? I remember staring a thread months ago about switching razors with the same blade and I think nearly all replies indicated they did as well? Anyway, sorry for the derail, but it definitely works for me (switching from the MM CP to this british 1912) I have to do it every week so it's not just a once off event. the MM gets tuggy, but in this 1912 it's like a new blade almost - not quite as close, but more comfortable than using the old blade than in any other razor I have.

BR, I must have missed that post. Be that as it may, I do the same thing. I prefer to allow a blade to age and after a few shaves it's ready for the extremely aggressive razors. The blade still cuts whiskers great, but skin less so. I average 14 shaves (guesstimate) per SE blade. The shave average may actually be higher.

This notion of switching between razors to accommodate the progressive changes that shaving brings to a blade is something I have never really thought about.
I'm not sure I am prepared to keep track well enough in order to employ such tactics!!!
Interesting thought though.
