I just saw a pretty nice 1914 in a wooden box go for over $100 on ebay! I don't know if it went to someone on this board, but for that price I would have expected a NOS or mint razor. My 1914s were all closer to $10. Is it the wooden box?

Sellers that aren't in a hurry list high prices hoping ton convince an uneducated buyer that what they have for sale is worth more than it really is. I balked at a really nice 1914 in an antique mall because they wanted $35 for it. I almost caved until I held it in my hand and felt how sloppy and loose the head was. I couldn't imagine it holding a blade securely so I was able to walk away easily.

They are one of my favorite sets, cases aren't a priority but I'll take 'em if they're part of the deal without jacking the price up.I should have snagged of these I saw a couple of months ago that slipped under the radar but I was chasing some things I wanted more.

Sleddog, That's where I was at as well. I never did bid, but that's the range I was expecting...

I wouldn't pay $100 for it but if given the choice between that and some of the modern high end stainless steel razors people are spending big dollars on ?
Not a doubt in my mind, compared to that $100's a steal

Yes I'd rather have the old razor as well, but no way would I pay $100. Beautiful case though. My cases sit out of sight, so I wouldn't pay extra for it either.

Greetings
I suspect the box represented at least 75% of the selling price,. For me that's not my scene as lovely as the box is you can't shave with a box!
Regards Dick.
