As in title,
I was bidding on Excellent Streamliner on eBay.co.uk for last few days I was only bidder for this auction for £2. In last two seconds when I observe finish of auction I was so happy! Then 2 second left outbided by somebody, No chance to react for it.... I hate this feeling, I felt as I was cheated....

The last minute bidding that people do on ebay is here to stay. It is an effective way to win an auction and people either do it by waiting at the count down or by using a computer program to do it for them. It can be called sniping, plain wrong, or clever strategy. Most importantly - it is here to stay as long as there is eBay. It can be frustrating though. I remember the first Rolls Razor I bid on I was sure I had won. I was thrilled to be finally getting one and was already dreaming of its journey with the postman! There was nobody else but me bidding, I watched the countdown, 9.8.7.6.......BID UP....... I lost. I feel for your pain!!!!

I'm ok with the way things play out on the bay,you get stuff for what it's worth to you or it goes to someone who thinks it's worth more.
I don't use bidding software but I'll wait as long as reasonably possibly to place my bid.My main concern is the ability to evalute the condition of an item prior to bidding.
The best way to "beat the bay" is to find under valued stuff flying beneath the radar...

Ya those last second bidders can be a real heartbreak. I have had several out bids in the last few seconds and even more that I have bid on, won and paid more than I thought I was going to I also do not use sniping software and occasionally I will wait till the end of the auction to bid. Problem is I usually forget when the auction ends so I miss out entirely Lately if I see something I want I put a bid on it (the max I want to pay)and basically forget about it..sometimes its a drag to see that I lost an auction by just a few cents...oh well, win some, lose some (more than I win) Scored this cool tshirt on eBay, cant buy one of these at Wallmart

Ebay even has their own software for it. I don't remember what it's called but it's automatic bidding. Just use it and that takes care of the snipers. I use it and bid in the last few seconds. The ebay computer sorts things out faster than anyone can react.
Does Ebay UK have it Jack? If so, just enter your highest bid. The ebay computer does the rest. Think of it as anti-sniping software.
Typically, what happens with me is that I get the bid if no one wants it since I won't pay a lot. If there are other bidders I lose out. I always set a maximum bid that's low. If I'm looking for something specific I bid on a lot of items of the sort I'm looking for in the hopes that I find the inexpensive jewel that fell through the cracks.

I never like to get out bid. I got into the habit of bidding my absolute highest bid from the start. If I lose then I was not going to win anyway.

I secretly derive fiendish pleasure from bidding and driving up the prices of Gillete FatBoys that I have absolutely no intention of actually trying to win

I hate them unless I'm the one doing it and winning! BTW, I've yet to win anything on ebay.

Yes Sir, that has happened to me ONCE...lol I have a program that alerts me when an auction is coming to a close. With 15 seconds to go I enter the absolute highest I will pay for an item... If someone has bid higher than that at that point they can have it.... I've won more than I've lost. E-Bay is a dog eat dog world. Be ready to get beat every now and again and remember that there is always more stuff coming up.... Just get up, dust off, and get back in the ring...

I want to point out that by putting in your maximum bid and allowing the computer to do the bidding for you at lightspeed, it removes the bidding wars and the egos that can occur when folks bid in real time. So there are advatages to using the software.

So there are advatages to using the software. I for one am bad about adding just a little more. I sometimes get the item that way but it does end up costing more then I planned to spend. I see the point in what you are saying.
