I'm not sure what this model is called but it is very similar to the Gem Jr Bar. Picked it up on the "Bay" for $12 as I was the only bidder. Its not in the best of shape, but it should work fineI like the solid handle, has a nice weight to it With a couple of its cousins for comparison. Not sure if it has been bent, but the face of it sits on a different angle than the Gems, more of a 45 degree angle.

Very nice razor to have around the house. It completes a lovely threesome there Sled.
c1920s American Safety Razor STAR. This was a re-branding of their early GEM Jr style frame to benefit from the left over selling power of the STAR name they purchased in 1919. Probably made on the original GEM tooling gear - a little ironic after all the competition they had through the years.

And the early gems in your pics appear to have much nicer plating than the later ASR - ye?

Thanks for the info Wayne, appreciate it!! This must of been one of the last lather catchers if they were made in 1920...a lot of newer models were out by thenAnd the early gems in your pics appear to have much nicer plating than the later ASR - ye? Ye..the Star is a much higher mileage razor than the Gems. I think the brass is showing through which gives it a yellow tinge in some pics..it doesnt seem so bad in real life

It has history written all over it in the form of use. I like that! Nice razor IMO! Used but not abused.
What a shame they aren't more aggressive. I just PIFed a GEM Jr bar away, and I tried my best to like it. They sure do look great though!

Kevin,
That is one fine looking razor. With the slightly different angle on the head I wonder how is shaves? Well I would presume but with a slightly different shaving angle.
