So after going months with just my ER Streamline and my GEM OC Damaskeene, I thought I would go a bit older school and give one of my LC's a go at a shave. I have mostly avoided it by thinking it is intimidating to have the razor out like it is in a LC. Determined to give this beauty a go, I inserted a GEM SS PTFE blade in it and lathered up. The shave went incredibly well! BBS with only 2 passes and some touch ups. I will most certainly be using this gorgeous razor again in the future. The shave felt quite aggressive, but it could just be my learning curve with the angle on a LC. If any of you have one of these beauties laying around in your collection and have not tried it yet, I strongly encourage you to break it out and give yourself a taste of yesteryear. I believe you will not regret it! If you like a light razor, this one definitely was very light to hold and shave with. It only bit me once, but that was my fault for rushing and not paying attention. I finished it off with a nice splash of Lilac Vegetal to enhance the old time feel of the shave.

I have no idea what date this would have been manufactured or sold. Any help there, would be most appreciated!

I believe that one was sold between 1912-1914 and is the predecessor to the one we call the 1914. It should contain a stropping attachment that you get by pulling the bottom of the handle.

You were right! There is a little stropper handle inside the razor handle. That's a very nice surprise.

Unscrew the frame from the handle and the stropper attachment screws onto the handle. I've found that modern blades are too thin to stay secured in the stropper.

Thanks for posting this.... Great looking whisker whacker I don't have any razors older than my 1914 ER and my razor acquisitions have slowed to barely a crawl, nice pickup by OrangeInfernoSS,I might have to stumble across one like it someday....

LCs are both fantastic razors and gorgeous!
My buddy thinks LCs are ugly. But I loaned him my Kampfe '13 (he's an aggressive razor junkie) and while he still thinks they're ugly now he at least likes one model. He says it's ugly with a smile on his face now and wants me to find one for him.

Cool! What other lather catchers do you have? All my LC's are ER. I was on an ER kick a few months back and lucked into several cases ER LCs. I'll have to take a look in the morning, but I'm pretty sure that they are all about the same. I am at present looking to acquire some GEMs and Kampfe lather catchers. I would also love to find the ER LC with the little logo of the man shaving on it. There is a lot of fun collecting vintage razors.

Great looking razor. Glad you enjoyed. I have a 1910 and 1911 gem. The 1911 is cased with 7 blades. They shave great. I feel a LC shave coming on for work tomorrow.
