That's a great looking razor! Kind of a mix between the ER 1914 and 1924.

I picked up one of these today. How firm should the blade holder be held by the small clip? Mine is held (just) but wonder if I should carefully bend the lower clip a little more in order that the blade holder is more secure..

I will check this after work on mine. I do not shave with it often.

Well I found the answer in my first attempt to shave: it fell open on the third stroke! The metal is pretty rigid and resists bending but the clip will have to be made more secure and this will be easily achieved I think with careful work with pliers. Or a small clip might do it. The razor while I used it felt somewhat light and would not be delivering a 1912 experience. However a certain charm to its use.

Ughh. Sorry I got busy and forgot to check this. I do not much like the shave from this one. Maybe I need to check that it is tight.

Looking forward to hearing how the 'adjustment' goes and then your assessment of the next shave attempt.

Well I had a go with the razor again after firming up the clip. I have it wrong actually..it's the 1902 "New Model" according to the head although it looks much like the razor in the initial post. Not the greatest shave but I was pretty nervous of another separation. I guess it would definitely be an improvement on the straight shave as far as many shavers were concerned back at the turn of the 19th century if they were looking at convenience and simplicity of use. The ER/Gem 1912 are in a completely different league of solidity and performance. One for looking at rather than the rotation methinks.

I agree that this style head was a miss. I just keep it to look at.

I ran across this razor the other day. Going to give it another chance. Did anyone else ever come across one?

Talk about a huge difference. I have to eat my words here. I dropped a 3ish day old PAL in this thing, worked up some Derby cream and fired off an awesome shave this afternoon. It is more aggressive feeling and I think louder then it's 1914 cousins. No irritation shave. It was a pleasure in every way. I am going to include one more pic here to show the nice looking comb on this one.

That looks to me like a keeper Fuzzy. You better hang on to that baby as they are few and far between.
