Careful with those blade stops, they can pop off. Unfortunately, I know

Here's a pic of my EverReady 14/23. A '14 head in a '23 kit. It's a nickle plated Touring case. Sorry about the soap spots on the blade case.

Great looking razors, guys! And MrGuy, you have my condolences.
How does the Ever-Ready 1914 compare to a 1912 or a Micromatic for agressiveness, i.e. blade exposure?

How does the Ever-Ready 1914 compare to a 1912 or a Micromatic for agressiveness, i.e. blade exposure? My pre-1914 1914 (patent applied for) seems to be a bit more aggressive than my 1912 models. Maybe that's because more of the top of the blade is exposed? Anyway, I wonder if there is varying degrees of agressiveness even among razors that are the same model due to manufacturing variances.

I see that only Ever Ready blades are suppose to fit these. I wonder if that contributes to the blade fit issues I have seen spoke of.

I used a'14 this morning with a CVS blade and vintage menthol WIlliams soap. I haven't used one for awhile for some reason, which I regret because these are remarkable razors.

I love the looks of the '14, what a drop dead gorgeous razor! When I first got it I loved the shaves too but other razors just work better for me now. I still use it now and then, but not as much as when it was new. It's too mild now and I'm an aggressive razor junky.
Hey, life happens and we change I guess.

Awesome!!! I really do like this razor - a lot!! It drives real sweet!! I know this is almost sinful - but I have been toying with swapping out handles on my old version (the one with a thin 'ball end tech' style handle - and I apologize for such bad language around here - oops). Perhaps trying some different handle lengths and hefts for different feels. I love the head but haven't made any useful/final decisions regarding handles on this. I know there were different models including some into the 20s with fairly heavy handles. I rarely try out different brand/model handles in blade frames, it makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong lol!! But, I might experiment a little with this razor.

The only other handle I've seen is the smooth, hexagon shape that was on the later ones, it seems a bit heavier that the early ball end.
And ShadowsDad, I believe you're the first person I've ever seen refer to the '14 as "mild"!

;D (said sheepishly, "sorry")
I now think of it as a razor to use if I'm shaving after a night of bad ice cubes, which doesn't happen anymore. It's impossible to get cut with it. Just slightly more aggressive (for me) than a FW.
Did I mention how drop dead gorgeous it is though ?!
It's no '24, OCMM,or Kampfe.
Definitely a case of YMMV. That's what makes this so interesting.
