If you have been following my tale of the little ER Lather Catcher, this is an update on how this little razor shaves. For comparisons of size, I have a picture of a Valet VC1 and the LC. Also I included an in use photo. Whether the comb portion was modified from a closed to an open one, it really didn't seemed to make a difference from the other lather catcher I have used. The razor performed flawlessly with a tremendous amount of audible feedback. I could easily hear this baby sing over the exhaust fan in my bathroom. The other nice item was seeing the corn rows on my face after each pass. Finding the correct angle was very eazy because of the audible feedback. The only difficulty was under my schnoz and my deeep cleft. The depth of the head was a little tough to get around the nostrils. Overall, this little razor shaved quite good to excellent. I am very pleased with it since I paid very little for it. Now it is time to refinish the handle. Tune in next time for the shaving chronicles of Papabear.

If you snag a Gem Junior Bar catcher maybe you can compare the two this model looks very similar. I used to have trouble shaving shaving the upper lip but I angle the razor (when I go against the grain) it helps a lot. You can also just do two across the grain passes on the upper lip.

PB, how does it compare to the black LC? I might be able to compare it for drumzalot.

PB, how does it compare to the black LC? I might be able to compare it for drumzalot. Weight aside, which is the most noticeable difference, the shaves are pretty much the same. The little LC is a bit more mild and "springy" when shaving. I do not know if this is from the open comb design or increased open C size or not. I just am jazzed from using such a unique piece of history. Drumz, here is a photo of my little LC and the black ER LC that I have on loan from Brian. As you can see, the the little LC is a 1/3 less in width and a little larger in the open C design.

Thanks PB!
If they shave close to the same, then it would be a fairly aggressive shave drumzalot.
I had it out as a pass around razor and most folks who signed up for a try at it also felt the same... aggressive. Certainly not the feel of a Jr Bar.

Rich & Brian thanks for trying to describe the differences between these two razors. It seems that dating & finding out the model of ER catchers are a little bit trickier then Gem LC's. Then again I'm still new to the SE world. Rich, don't forget to keep an eye out on the Gem LC
