Does the generic personna carbon shave as good as the blue Pal?.... If thats the case then I'll love them....I unequivically adore the Blue PAL carbons... So? ? Do the generic carbon Personnas shave like the PAL supers? We need to do a swap to find out. If you're up for it, PM me and we can do a mini blade exchange and test. I got my third shave from a generic Personna last night. It still felt just as sharp but there was a hint of roughness. But then again, I can only get three decent shaves from the GEM and Treet carbons too.

So how do you all find the differences between Treet, Blue Star and PAL carbon steel blades? Apart from the PALs being blued, are there actually any differences between them?
Are Blue Stars and Treets actually the same blade?

If anyone on this side of the pond wants to try a few Treets just give me a PM. I'll need to get creative with packaging since they don't have cardboard on the blades, but I have 9 or so that I'd like to see used and I simply can't get to them before they begin rusting.

It has a feature that lets you see which stores carry them and have them in stock. I was asking above, about who in Seattle carried GEM blades...Well I've found; at least around here; that if a Walgreen's doesn't stock...whatever it is that you want thats on their web-site....)And they have the GEM blades and all the Pinaud and Aqua Velva stuff on their web-site)....But whatever they don't stock in their store they will custom order for you. And if you have it delivered to their store, there is no delivery fee. And delivery for me has never taken more than 4 days, usually 3. They will call you when it arrives. When you go to your favorite local Walgreens, ask the Mang. to Special order this....I've heard that sometimes the co-workers aren't familier with this service. So some people get ticked off...Just ask the Mang. It's a great service, fast and cheap.... I use it all the time...;^)

So how do you all find the differences between Treet, Blue Star and PAL carbon steel blades? Apart from the PALs being blued, are there actually any differences between them? Are Blue Stars and Treets actually the same blade? Greetings I am now; having shaved with very many Treets and GEM Blue Star Carbon Blades very sure in my own mind that they are not the same blade. For me the GEM Blue Star Blades are smoother and seem to give me a much better shave than the Treets they are however made in the same factory the packaging says as much. I have now purchased three separate lots of 120 Carbon blades from the USA (SE carbon blades intended for shaving are not sold anywhere in the UK) 2 lots of GEM Blue Stars and one lot of Treets and I can say with the Blue stars that there is a definite difference between batches. My initial purchase of Blue stars showed 2008 on the packet my recent purchase showed 2009 on the packet, the 2009 blades are superior. I also had 20 blades (5 packets of 5) Blue stars that came with a purchase of a razor, these blades had 2005 on the packet and were the best of all. It is interesting that the 2005 batch of Blue Stars did not say .009 RD on the spine as the others do instead they had Made in the USA stamped on them the same as the stainless blades, they were however unquestionably carbon. I would say that you need to be very sure (if you live in the UK) that you really like GEM Blue stars as they are three times the cost of the Stainless PTFE Coated blades from Connaughts, the Treets are quite a bit cheaper but again much dearer then the stainless coated blades. I am unable to offer any comments on PAL Blued carbon blades as they are not available in the UK and not available in the UK even by purchasing from the USA and accepting the high shipping costs. Regards Dick.

Thanks Dick! That's very interesting. Personna really are a law unto themselves aren't they? Thanks to Spidey I now have some blued PALs and am excited to try them Greetings Marcus You're right they are but I expect they only now manufacture shaving quality blades as a 'hearts and minds campaign' or a PR stunt call it what you will, surely today at least 95% or more of their SE blade sales are for industrial use, including a small percentage for lab. use. The shaving market may give them a little mileage advertisement wise but it probably costs them more than it's worth, but not as much as the potential bad PR by stopping the manufacture of shaving blades altogether. We have to realise that we as SE shavers may be a growing breed amongst the traditional shaving community but overall as far as Personna/GEM are concerned almost an irrelevance! Marcus why don't I send you some 2008 and 2009 Blue Stars and some 2008 Treets to try and you send me just one PAL blade. Regards Dick.
