I picked this up off the bay to see if it lived up to the old Yardley shaving creams of lore.
Manufature location: India
Ingredients: DM water, Steric Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Lauic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Myrisitic Acid, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, PEG-20 Sterate, Perfume, Boric Acid, Cocomonoethanolamide, Polyquartenium-39, Sodium Silicate, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Sodium Hydroxide, Aloe Vera, di sodium EDTA, Menthol, BHT.
Positive aspects of the product (pros): Widely available. Lathers quite well and conditions extremely well.
Cons: The scent can be polarizing. The fragrance resembles a more flowery cologne scent, which I find great, but that is bound to turn others off.
Price: 10. Oustanding product at a very good price point. I paid $9.00 USD for two tubes.
Quality: Solid 10. This is a fantastic cream.
Scent: 10. Delightful old world smell, which is not over powering.
Latherability: 10. The cream produced tons, and I mean tons of creamy goodness.
Efficacy: 8. Slick, smooth as any soap/cream but a notch below others.
Moisturizing Properties: 9+. The aloe vera and glycerine derived from plants makes for a great feeling on my face.
Packaging: 10. Simple and attractive.
Conclusion: In the major areas of protection, closeness of shave it fails to equal some of the other products in its class on the market. In spite these shortcomings I can't imagine ever not having this cream in my "top shelf "rotation as it excells in some areas beyond any other creams and soaps that I own.
Considering that it could be bought for $9.00 for two including delivery, it must surely be ranked as one of the greatest bargains in shaving. This is one special cream. I love that is totally pure with no preservatives. It brings back memories of how our forefathers shaved. This cream will always find a place in my rotatation.
