Greetings My 1914 LLC has the large blade stops and a very short handle with a strange coarse thread that does not fit any of my other razors. Regards Dick.

From looking through old ads it looks like they changed to the newer design around 1921 or so.

I wonder if the slight blade stop differences do give them a distinct shave performance. I'll be checking out your review.

I can't tell any difference between the old and new styles, but someone with a more sophisticated face might.

If your meaning of "more sophisticated face" is rode hard and put up wet, then I have such a face. I never thought I could use sophisticated and my facein the same sentence until now. Most of the time I usually use ugly mug.

Well after last night's shave here are my findings regarding the differences between the old and new LLCs. The major difference is loading the blade. Those tiny stops are a bear to load today's new, thinner blades. The bigger stops on 1921 redesign are much easier to load. But on the other hand, the bigger tabs might be easier to snap off while cleaning with a cloth. Regarding the shave difference, I found a little difference in angle of use, but the quality of the shave is no different. Both razors produce a smooth, close and comfortable shave.

Glad they worked out for you. I have a 1914 that is waiting to go to Lloyd. It has the small stops. When I got it I thought the blade would never stay in place, but it always did. They are a great razor.

Excellent, this is a pretty tight shaver. Since the blade is quite exposed (for me) it feels like shaving with an SE missing the top plate. With a bit of care wiping the razor with the longer blade stops should be fine. I find it's better to pat dry rather then wipe dry these type of razors. For sure that knurling patter must make for a better grip with wet hands.

I have a 1912 that has the exact same handle. Provides an excellent grip.
