A couple weeks back I obtained a really nice G1 off the internet. It is a gold textured finish with a white (not ivory) swirl handle. It came in a plastic case; red bottom and clear top. The case is in perfect shape and contains the instructions and the blade dispenser (which is full). The copper blank was still in the razor. The seller advertised it as being unused and judging from the number of blades in the dispenser and blank in the razor I would have to agree. I tried two of the blades and they tug, so I don't plan on using any more of them. I'm thinking they are carbon since it does not say stainless on the dispenser. The razor itself is perfect also. I've had the textured finish before and they are nice, but I like the plain gold best. It shaves great so I will keep it but I still prefer the Es.

Hi Alan. Super sounds great. Yeah old carbon blades can be rough.I agree with your preference. The G is a fine razor but the E is that much better, at least to us.I'll use it if my skin is feelin' sensitive and I want a milder shave.

Another vote for the 'E's, but I bet she does shave great. I've gotten great shaves from all the type Schicks I've tried...Even the 'L's...Sure sounds like you've got a great example of the breed there....Hope you do get many great shaves with it.. On those days when you want to lighten up a bit I'm sure it will be just what the Doctor ordered...:)But I agree...You might want to avoid using those blades that came with it...

I have found all of my Schicks are excellent shavers. I tend to use my Golden 500 and E2 more.

Alan Greetings I'm a huge fan of the G Schicks and I am a whole lot less enthusiastic about the E's. Whilst the E's certainly shave like demons and cut whiskers well, in my hands unless I take extreme care I can get weepers. I can accept that more care is required but I find the end result no different at all, I find the E's one of those razors that for more aggression does not shave any better. I realise it is not the way to shave but I can 'throw' a G around my face with reckless abandon and still get a super shave; were I to do this with an E my face would look like an abattoir floor at the end of the days work! Strange really because I am perfectly comfortable with the fiercer SE's. Oh well, if we were all the same there would be little point to this or any other shave forum. Regards Dick.
