I have to say, I prefer round handles with my GEMs and Every Readies. I also like longer handles. Valet to the rescue? When my favourite "turner" is back in action with his new workshop I'm going to commission a slightly thicker version of this handle, simply 100mm and knurled down the length.

I like it! The round knurled handles on the 1912 Damaskeenes is one of the reasons i prefer it over the later ones.

OK, so it's a frankenrazor, but it works for you right? Good enough.

Yeah, a Frankenrazor. Spot on, Tom! I like the thicker handle but I would like it longer.
I have a few Valets, so a choice of colours to go with various GEM/ER heads. The 1924 feels very right on a longer stick.

I have to admit that I would be the first one to try making blades from old soup cans if I thought there was a chance I could get some sort of a shave, but I'm afraid that my inner traditionalist jumps out big time when I see mix and match creations.
It just feels uncomfortable to look at. As is reasonable though, I do believe in the YMMV credo.

I have a Gem Minute man with a broken blade stop so I trashed the head and found a cheap Damaskeene head online. I added the two parts of each razor and created a useable monstrosity lol.
Your new creation reminds me a wee bit of my Radio 1912 razor.

I also have a couple of favourite DE handles, custom milled. One M5 grub screw later and voila! I can now use them with my beloved GEMs and ERs. I'll still get a slightly longer version of the simple knurled handle done.
